This hike was absolutely GORGEOUS. Very rewarding after reaching the top. We started at the bottom of the ski lift and only made it about halfway towards the end before we realized the sun was going to set soon so we hiked back down. Would’ve been nice to hike it all the way but this hike is definitely not for the faint hearted! An adventurous hike but dangerous when there’s snow on the top and no proper snow shoes for grip (the snow was kinda icy so there were some slippery moments which were sketchy!). This hike is not appropriate for beginners or someone with no hiking experience however if you’re up for a little bit of scramble then this hike is for you! We had to use our hands a little to keep balance at some parts. Definitely worth the effort and the slight scare when we lost the trail and thought we might be stuck (LOL) but y’all believe me when I say this, I wouldn’t classify this hike as a moderate hike. Maybe not quite difficult but definitely a little more physically demanding then just a moderate hike. Anyways, great hike and would love to do it again maybe in the warmer seasons (we went in mid October).

Patience with this stair master of a hike will be well rewarded with a view of Kvalvika Beach that will leave you speechless. We hiked this trail on a rather wet and foggy day which enabled us to see the air currents suck the clouds down the mountainside.

Very underrated hike! Great views over the harbour and ocean, and also back onto the town of Stamsund. The leaves were all changing colour, which really added to the beauty of the hike.

Of all the hikes in the Lofotens, this may be my favourite. Such a gorgeous and rewarding hike to the beach and up to Ryten with spectacular views the entire time. Overlooking Kvalvika beach is the best place I can think of to stop, have lunch, and simply enjoy the Arctic beach views.

I actually really enjoyed this hike. very close to Stamsund so didn't have to drive far. Views were also really good considering most reviews we read said the hike was pretty boring and not worth it. We started from the trail at Halsbakkan which was very overgrown. Took us less than 2 hours to reach the top of Steine, trail was narrow and steep in a lot of areas, not for those afraid of heights. Beautiful ridge walks, great for viewing fall colors and great views of the surrounding area once you get out of the trees. We took an alternate route down rather than doing the full loop. I would recommend this hike.

Epically beautiful hike. Did a loop from the car park marked for Kvalvika, went to the beach, then up to Ryten peak, and down a sorta side-way to the road. Was 5 hours going slow + a lunch break. Quite steep going down to the beach & the first bit up to Ryten but nothing too difficult. Be careful if it rained the day before as it was quite muddy!

More moderate than easy, there are just two steep and narrow parts in the beginning of the ascent. Wind at the peak made me nervous, but the view of the lake from up there was beautiful!

A beautiful hike. If you have time for only one hike in this area, give Festvagtinden a miss and come here. Far fewer people, this hike has a more varied landscape and an equally amazing view. Steep in some areas, you must walk along ridges with sheer drops on either side (not for those afraid of heights), and chains to climb in some sections. We loved this one.

Tired but really impressive! Nice hike! Magnificent view !

The beach is beautiful! Also it’s totally worth the steep hike up to the peak even if it’s slippery.

2 km to the beach of Kvalvika. Trail very visible in the rock. Not really a problem. The Ryten meanwhile is something. A good elevation in a short time. There are small shortcuts that give much steeper slopes. Go uphill but take the easier path for the descent. The view from the top is sublime. I loved this hike. We slept on the beach one night. It's to do!
