We only went up a few hundred meters. The trail appears to be very challenging. Wish we had more time to explore

Turned back with heavy winds and blasts of rain but it was mostly a gravel road (can't say for the top) with picnic tables on the lower section. Pretty nice walk. Couldn't see much due to weather but I expect it's a nice view.

Very fun, challenging hike. Due to time I only went as far as the "summer farm" but even this was well worth the effort. At a good pace I was able to make it to this view point in 1hr 30. It appeared many folks from the cruise ships that dock here also hike this abbreviated route.

Do you like relentless inclines, steep drop offs, mud and rocks? If so, this trail is for you. 10/10 would NOT recommend even if it’s raining a little bit. The trail becomes dangerous with slick mud and floods very quickly. When we started we faced a light drizzle and by the time we came to the cabins it was raining steadily and we were unable to complete the last quarter of the hike because the trail got completely washed out. The trail is not well marked at the very beginning but markers improve as you go along. Be prepared for a tough incline most of the way to the lookout - it really is the trail of a million steps. Three stars because it was a very pretty hike regardless of weather but probably wouldn’t do it again.

Amazing views! Would definitely rate this as hard. Going down felt neverending but so worth it!

I took pictures of the chains... the 4th chain, IIRC, is the one people are commenting about. You don't have to pull yourself up, exactly... you just hold onto it to keep a mis-step sending you down 100 ft. The railings aren't exactly OSHA approved. Not for those prone to fear of heights. If that can bug you, you'll need to be able to control it. The path puts you next to steep cliffs. Lots of views. and then more views. and then toward the bottom a walkway overlooking the town, just in case you still wanted to take pictures.

Views and feeling of remoteness was unbelievable.

Short hike, a little steep but very nice, the arrival at the waterfall is really nice! All levels, very well marked

Amazing payoff at the top. I did this on running shoes in a light rain and i didn't have much trouble with the trail. A little muddy in spots. On the harder side of the easy scale.

Pretty manageable climb up a paved path to some amazing views. Must do when in Alesund.

WOW!!! This is hike is a hike and an adventure of a lifetime!!! Life-changing hike for a newbie hiker like me!! Breath-taking views everywhere you look. I did the hike alone in July and it was one of the best trips i’ve ever had!!! Ascend and descend are both challenging. For a newbie like me, there were scaryyyy parts where I had to lift myself up on the chains to get to other side. I’m a little bit afraid of heights so on the ridge i was walking very carefully. But oh my ghad so worth all the heart race and leg pains!!! Would love to do it again. Trails are well-marked, with water sources. Finished the hike in 7.5 hours. I like that this hike is not touristy. Highly recommended!
