Take a boat from Gjendesheim to Memurubu to take a one-way trip with an epic view of the lake all the way. Can also be done as a multi-day backpacking trip. There is no parking at the ferry pier where the trip begins, so park a lot about half a mile up the road, and there is a shuttle bus from there. Beautiful hike with stunning scenery. It is a good rocky climb, but will not try it in snow or strong winds. Good hiking equipment is a must. The trail is well marked and many other hikers.Show more

Length: 7.5 mi • Est. 6 h 15 m
Norway's highest mountain towers over the surrounding peaks and offers a fantastic view of Jotunheimen. From Spiterstulen it is relatively easy for hikers in good shape to hike. However, the tour is quite long and you should plan around 9 hours out and back. From Spiterstulen you take the path to the west up the hill over the peaks Svellnose and Keilhaus. The hardest part is walking on the rocks - many of them are loose so be careful. Demanding elevation gain.Show more

This beautiful hike from Bygdin to Bitihorn is a classic route close to Beitostølen, on the border of Vang and Øystre Slidre. The panoramic view from the top makes Bitihorn one of the most visited mountains and viewpoints in Valdres.Show more

Hiking on the Besseggen ridge offers an iconic view shaped by the colorful Gjende and Bessvatnet lakes. Lake Gjende is a stunning emerald green color and is very long and narrow. Lake Bessvatnet is deep blue and is one of the clearest lakes in Norway. Hiking on the Besseggengrat is very demanding. The path becomes extremely difficult in rainy weather. So check the weather forecast and talk to locals and other hikers before you set off. This is the more difficult route than the one-way trip that can be done by boat from Gjendesheim to Memurubu: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/norway/oppland/besseggen-ridgeShow more

A challenging hike to the top of Tverreådalskyrkja which offers a phenomenal view. From the summit you can see Tafjordfjella in the north, the large, long Jostedalsbreen glacier as well as Hurrungane and Jotunheimen with the many mountain peaks in the south. Follow the DNT-marked path. The hike leads over many rocks, but is easy to hike. Stay away from the glacier tongue when passing the lake. It may seem like a shortcut but it has multiple cross-cuts. This tour requires good weather if you want to enjoy it to the fullest.Show more
