If I had to describe this hike, it’s an obstacle course!!! At first the hike begins on a farm and you have to pass all of these cows to get to the first gate. Next you pass horses and then get through another gate. The first part of the actual hike is beautiful, heavily wooded and well marked. About 20 minutes in the trail becomes basically you following the waterfall up the mountain! I had a huge smile on my face because it was exhilarating. However, there were tons of ropes for pulling yourself up on rock walls. It was basically rock climbing, which I had not prepared for. I almost reached the top but had to turn around because the rock climbing was too intense. Beautiful hike!!!

Excellent trail - great length and very scenic! It was very foggy the day i did it so i couldn’t even see the 2nd waterfall, but the last waterfall more than made up for it! Be careful in the last part, as the trail is poorly marked and can be difficult to way find in the fog.

Nice hike. Doable in 4hours, but we took our time and enjoyed the views and took 5h. Also not a lot of people on the hike, so I’d definiteky recommend it if you want to escape the crowded places for a while.

This was a really challenging hike with 40+ mph winds. Definitely recommend not doing this one on a day with wind advisories. That said it is a nice hike. Lots of spots that are boggy and muddy if it's rained recently. We had a washed out portion due to high water that forced us to take a long detour (added about 4 mi), so be mindful of how much rain there has been. It's a very rocky trail with a few scrambles and lots of up and downs across ridgelines. Not for folks with weak knees. If you happen to do the optional hike up and down on either end (floyen funicular and ulriken gondola are the alternatives) there is quite a lot of elevation on this one.

Good day in Bergen and I’m glad I did it, but I wouldn’t say it’s the most fun or scenic hike. I loved being able to cover territory from one point to the next, and mark my progress by seeing the two towers. But while it’s all pretty, there were only a few really nice lookouts, and the rest was fairly monotonous. Terrain was fine- mostly uneven rocky “paths” or expanses, with some muddy points (and it’s been sunny and hot here all week, so I bet it gets really muddy at times!). I had one sketchy point working my way down a side of a rock, but totally doable using a hand or 2. The other direction probably has 2 like that. Best views are nearing the telephone tower before Fløyen. Ending at Fløyen felt anticlimactic and even disappointing. It’s super touristy and pretty much downhill from the tower for 4 or 5km to get there. In retrospect, I might have liked to explore some of the paved paths / routes a bit more once I got into the vicinity of Fløyen before heading down, in search of more views. Logistics- next time, I’d take a bus to the Ulrikken gondola station. I took a Bergen City bike from my hotel in the center of the city to the hospital. With lots of construction and a weird route, it ended up being 45 mins to the bike parking there (vs 20), plus another 10 or so walk up to the gondola. Then 50 mins waiting for the gondola, which only holds 8-10ppl at a time. Context on me as a hiker- comfortable, but not a dare devil. Favorite hikes have variety, wind, and amazing views ... which is why this fell a little flat for me. It took me about 4.5 hours, taking my time for photos, and I stopped mid-way for a break. Another 40mins or so from Fløyen down to town.

trail starting with 2 kilometers of the high incline Stoltzekleiven steps. What a way to start a 14 km hike. The hike was as beautiful as it was tough. Their were cairns or "rock piles" that had directions to each attached hike very convenient. A bit of rock scrambles up and down but if these "wise" men and women can do it we all can. Highly recommended
