If you do not do the first 4 km P2 parking P3, rather affordable hike apart from the first big climb in the first few kilometers that hurts legs to the go back! No particular difficulty

This is a challenging hike, especially given the length and the Nepalese Sherpa stairs that ascends nearly 1300 ft in such a short distance. With this said and out of the way, my husband and I were so pleased we saved this hike for last. The challenge made the view and experience completly worth it!

Not really a hard hike, no scrambles, just a long one with lots of up and downs. The view is definitely worthwhile!

Great hike. Not that crowded as expected. Started at 7 and saw the tongue after 11.15. Waited in line an hour for the iconic picture. We was at the parking lot p2 at 4 o’clock pm. The 4 extra kilometers from p2 took us 45 minutes. Tired legs, but it’s definitely possible to do the hike in one day for non-experienced hikers.

Great hike and breath-taking sceneries along the way, but if you don’t like crowded trails this mountain is not for you. It was my first big climb in Norway. I am a newbie hiker but active and physically fit — I take daily walks and do running and jogging at least twice a week. It took me 7.5 hrs total (4 hrs up, 3.5 hrs down), with lots of breaks and photo ops. I hiked solo on a Monday but still lined up for 1 hr at the troll’s tongue to get that famous IG photo. Stayed for another hour to rest, eat lunch and enjoy the view. Tips / information: *Trails are well-marked. It’s impossible to get lost even if you hike alone. It’s a mountain packed with tourists, so you won’t literally be alone. *It’s a 20km long hike from the main trailhead and back to P3. *You will take the same trail back to town. *To save time and your energy, it’s BEST to take the bus up to Odda-P2 and then P2 to P3 which is the main trailhead. Costs 450nok roundtrip, different bus operators. *Wear sturdy hiking boots. It saved me so much the entire hike. But had to change to sneakers going down. *Start hiking from the main trailhead before 8am. *Check the weather before you hike. *The first 2km and the last 2km to the top were the challenging parts. *I believe the hike is for everyone up for adventure. But remember to prepare, wear the right gears, wear layers even if you hike during the summer, and wear sunscreen. *Enjoy the hike. Even if it’s very touristy during peak-seaon, i think it’s still worth it.

Great hiking route. From P3 it took 3,5 h in each way incl one break. (In July with great weather conditions. No wind, snow but sunny) There is just one hard part at the beginning, after that is not really hard. On the way we have seen 2 ppl with babies (don’t forget to take Ergo).

Hard, but fun trail. Not for dogs and small kids. Better use proper hiking shoes as it’s quite rocky. We took the trail on a nice sunny day and the views were breathtaking!! Will do again next summer :-) P3 parking is online pre-booking only, but there’s a shuttle bus going there from other parking lots

Steep incline. It’s a short hike but has decent elevation. Good hike for day before Trolltunga

The hike started out with lots of green but before you know it you are in snow. Highly suggest reserving a parking spot online for P3 and starting your hike from there. Took us 5.5 hours.

This is an awesome hike but be ready for a long day and bad weather. They now have a parking lot three that you can reserve parking at ahead of time. Other wise you can pay to park in P2 and pay to take a shuttle up. The busses from town don’t take you all the way to P3, only to P2. We walked to P3 but it’s straight uphill and adds about 45-60 min to the already long hike. We did the full hike in 8 hours moving quick with limited breakers except at the tongue, but they say it should take 8-12 hrs.

Stayed in an Airbnb at the trailhead in late June 2018 prior to hiking Trolltunga. While this is a challenging hike, it is completely doable by oneself and moderately to heavily trafficked in the summertime. It was super foggy in the morning, so I didn’t start my trek until around 5:45-6am. I began at the old starting point and the first mile+ was a BRUTAL ascent. It took about 3.5 hours with minimal stops to reach the lookout point. There was a ton of fog rolling through the area all morning and early afternoon, which slightly diminished the quality of photos I wanted to capture, but still summoned up the courage to walk out to the edge and snap some epic photos. One of the most rewarding hike I’ve ever done. I plan to return in the future!

Hiked on 29 of June. Parking P2 looked pretty full at 6 am. We took the slope instead of car way to P3, you have to be very fit to do that, it was very challenging. It took us 3 hours to get to the picture place and we were waiting for 1 hour in a queue to take a picture (arrived at 9 am). The queue got way longer later. On the way back we decided to take a shuttle from P3 since it arrived exactly when we came there. Very nice hike. Beautiful views all the way. You should be fit and have proper shoes of right size to do that (mine turned out to be a bit too small and thus it was such a pain to walk downhill, that we used whole 3 hours for the walk back). Don't need to take much water with you as you can refill the water bottle quite often

Hiked this trail June 2019 , parking P2 gets full early started at 0800 only 2 spots were left, parking fee too high, trail very nicely marked all the way , they done a great job by making the small bridges and paths where ever trail been washed out Trail is long mod to hard , had a beautiful day. Can take a reusable bottle for water and can refill anywhere by the waterfalls since there are multiple water falls & waterbodies, best water I ever tasted, take plenty of snacks., start early so you can enjoy the views.there was a line of12-14 people to take a picture at the Trolltunga, it’s worth every step and wait , amazing views .
