Scenic walk in the town of Valle along the marked watermill path. The Mill House Road is very central to Valle. On your way around you will see several cultural-historical buildings while being surrounded by the most beautiful nature. The first thing you will meet is the old mill at Harstad. The mill at Harstad. The mill consists of 5 small mills along with a few ruins, these are placed next to the river "Gryte". Among other things in this area, you will find a barn being a blacksmiths shop, saunas and a stable. The foot path continues along the mountainside through the woods to the open air museum Tveitetunet. Along this part of the walk you have a constant view of the valley. Tveitetunet is a part of the Setesdal museum complex. Tveitetunet was the home of the farmer and local sheriff Olav Knutsson Tveiten (1758-1837). He was voted into the National Assembly at Eidsvoll in 1814. The popular Valle Utstillinga exhibition has been organised at Tveitetunet over the past summers. The farmyard with its special atmosphere and the historical buildings form a unique frame around this sales exhibition of art and crafts, all of which is made in the valley. From Tveitetunet the footpath continues to Brottveit. Here you will find a most fantastic view over the village of Valle. You will be at the highest point of your walk at this point, about 480 meters over sea level. From Brottveit you will follow the old Stavdalsvegen (bridle way). This road was built in the 1930's. This was a big advantage for the local farmers as hey could drive their horse and carts along the whole way to the herding area in Stavdalen. Along your walk you will encounter a few gates, these are to so the sheep do not escape. Please close the gates after you and show consideration when walking on farmlands and keep you dog on leash.Show more

Difficult, but short trip to the panoramic point under an overhanging cliff in Hommefjell. A steep but rewarding trip to one of the best panoramic views of Setesdal. The goal is an overhanging cliff halfway up in Hommefjell. Great picnic or an overnight trip as it is dry under the cliff, and you can light a fire if there is not too much wind.Show more

The Faråni river bed is not a regular tourist attraction. You may rightly ask yourself why - the sculpted river bed is a great sight few other places in Norway (like Nissedal, which has a similar river bed). This is a must do in the region! Do it on a sunny afternoon and bring a swimsuit and picnic bag.Show more

Great scenic hike in highland terrain. You'll see many interesting landscape features dating back to the last ice age. Not hard to imagine that in geological terms, the area was still covered by glaciers recently. The last in a long series of ice ages lasted from 118.000-10.000 years ago. The reasons for the ice ages have to do with the earth's rotation, orientation of the earth's axis, changed oceanic currents and climatic factors scientists are still finding out of, like composition of the atmosphere. 8500 years ago the glaciers in this area had melted, leaving behind moraine ridges, boulders, polished baserock and fluvial deposits after enormous floods.Show more
