Hard track which requires to actually climb sometimes but great reward with views on Fox glacier, Mt Cook, Mt Abel. Brilliant hike but long and challenging. You need to be quite fit and used to do long hike too.

Glacier was somewhat disappointing but the turn off to pass through the rainforest was v nice

Good walk, quite a few ups and downs. Trail was very muddy and in some places you can find yourself ankle deep in mud. You can get around the mud, stepping on roots and rocks but its gets a little tricky. Other than that great walk and the views over Lake Brunner is awesome.

Awesome trail to the melting and famous Franz Josef Glacier. If trail running (or just in general) be careful on the second half up to the glacier as it is rocky and uneven with a few river crossings. Gorgeous 3+ mile run with hills and obstacles. Obviously very popular so better in the morning or off season. I went in the rain and had a blast! Global warming is alarming here, and the most evident ive ever seen with my own eyes. This is point source to its finest. Sad, and yet so true.

No glacier view, closed because of landslide

Beautiful scenery but there were quite a few people.

The Fox River Trail is a portion of the Inland Trail, but has two sights on it. The first is the Fox River Caves which were closed off due to a slide along its trail, and then the Ballroom Overhang, which is a large limestone cut out on the rock wall that sticks out far enough to cover you from any possible rain. The trail to the over hang and to follow the Inland Track does cross the river once. When the Inland Track and the Overhang split the over hang has 30 minutes of river crossing to get to it, but it was amazingly worth it.

The track is open and beautiful with lots of birds snd nature. The view at the end is amazing. Unfortunately the helicopters flying noisy all the time above the track, therefore I am not fully fan of the track We did the track with our kids 7/9 in 6,5h and can not fully recommend the track for persons with short legs due to rocks and slippery surfaces.

a bit crowded. recommend going early in the morning. very nice walk if you don’t mind the constant buzz of helicopters. makes you sad about climate change though

forget about the tunnel... we started the walk with our kids (7/9) by sunset, got wet feet in the tunnel as expected and found finally lots of glowworms and an possum in the forest on the way back

slippery when wet

This is an accessible hike through an enchanting forest of tall moss covered trees. There is a bit of incline at moments, but nothing too dramatic. It's bordered by a river almost the whole time and leads to a nice lake at the end. There is a cabin at the lake, but it's under construction so unavailable it would seem. There are certain parts along the trail where the trail is completely submerged or has turned into a creek, so your feet aren't likely to remain dry.

It was very muddy, but that was expected after some heavy rain. When you start the track to the summit it gets very steep and you'll have to use your hands to hold on to trees. I was in the clouds at the top, but a bit further down I had an amazing view over Lake Brunner, the ocean and snow covered mountains. Definitely need to be fit and have good shoes for this hike

Steep hike but not too bad. The way is easy till the hut (a bit muddy sometimes). I did it in less than 2 hours (return). It was a bit cloudy but the view was really nice.
