Easy trail with steps the whole way. Goes through the forest for 90% of the way so no mountain views until the end. However, the view at the end is amazing, especially if you go a little past the hut to the tarns. https://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/taranaki/places/egmont-national-park/things-to-do/tracks/pouakai-range-tramping-tracks/Show more

This is an amazing track. Lots of stairs and some sections are quite steep. Lots of tree roots, mud, and large step ups/downs. Poles are highly recommend if you are shorter. Park at the Kaiauai car park, take that to Kokowai Track, that connects with Holly Hut track past the section that is closed due to a slip. There is a side trip about 40 min from Holly Hut to Bells Falls- so worth it! https://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/taranaki/places/egmont-national-park/things-to-do/tracks/pouakai-circuit/Show more

This track is to Maketawa Hut, a first come, first served hut with 16 beds. This is a perfect trek for beginners (including children) through the bush with views of Tarankai. The hut is known to be busy during holidays and summer weekends. Please check with Egmont National Park and/or the DOC for more information. Show more

Steep pinch up to the intersection with the Holly Hut track. Great views back to the central north island. Track includes a high swing bridge. Some areas of track maintenance required due to slips.Show more

Explore the remote parts of Whangauni National Park on this track. This portion of the track goes to Omaru Hut. Omaru Hut is a first come first served hut that has 8 bunk beds. You will begin the track at Kohi Saddle. The majority of the track is through native forests. After rain, the track becomes muddy that can make the journey difficult.Show more
