Awesome experience!

This is the hardest Great Walk I have done so far. The second day was punishing on my knees but the views were awesome so it was totally worth it. The Luxmore hut is spacious but the Iris Burn is very overcrowded and should have been cheaper. We walked in late April before the track closed and had amazing weather so didn't need all our layers.

Lots of forest, stunning views between Luxmore and Iris Burn. You definitely don't want fog for this part ! Did it in 3 days starting on May, 1st. We had a little bit of snow on the ridge and on mount Luxmore summit. Path is really easy.

Very pleasant track. It's 22 km from Iris Burn to Rainbow Reach car park, and it's doable in one day. Or you can stay at the Moturau hut. But it's just 6km from the hut to the first parking lot (Rainbow Reach). You go through various green areas: forest, wetlands. Very nice surroundings.

The best views are Luxmore hut to Iris Burn.

This is a very nice stroll along the shoreline of Lake Te Anau. It ends at the starting point for the Keppler Track. The entire setting is peaceful, serene and beautiful. Things can be a bit hectic at the Fjordland Visitor Centre, but the folks are helpful.

Did this hike up to mount luxamore and just stayed overnight in the luxamore hut for the night. The walk isn’t too tough with the first 5km nice and flat and the then goes up hill but it shaded most of the way but not too tough. The view at the top is amazing and just gets better and better as you keep going up (best bit after luxamore hut). Possible to do mount luxamore in a day if you head of early and fit. Also if you are quite fit and wanting to do whole track I don’t 4 days is need 3 is plenty also making it a bit cheaper as the huts are $130 per person per night and must book before in summer period.

Absolutely beautiful trail!! Wanted to do it but couldn’t get a hut, so three of us packed our tent and did the campsites. Definitely recommend going Brod Bay to Luxmore, as going Counter clockwise is a bit more gradual of an incline (still steep!). Once you get up, you stay high and it’s a stunning traverse over some great ridges. One of the best hikes I’ve ever done. The sand fly’s can be gnarly so bring bug spray! Easy to do in two nights.

Absolutly beautiful hike, beautiful views at the top and along ridgeline and gorgeous scenery through the forest. Were lucky with the weather the whole time, so were able to have a nice refreshing swim in lake manpouri end day 3. we took our time and did 4 days :) absolutly loved it.

It was truly amazing. I dit it in two days in clockwise. First day only jungle. You follow a river and then a lake. But the second day was wonderful. During three hours you follow the mountains ridge with scenic views. One of the great hike I have done

did it in 1 day. 62km in 10h45 ... counterclockwise of course ... water is clean at the 3 huts along the way so pack light on water if you want to enjoy your run ... started at 6h15am ... covered and rainy for half the run ... nice views at the top and nice tropical forest for the second half! if i would to do it again i would run it half way counterclockwise and come back the same way. start at the parking lot directly!!

I did it in one day, if you enjoy the view for a bit and want a challenge then do it. Total: 11 hours, 45km, finished at rainbow reach

Awesome hike - beautiful hiking trail - well maintained

Done in 2 days instead of the 3 I had planned. The 1rst day was windy but amazing with stunning views on the lake and mountains, the 2nd day was a long but nice bush walk.

One of the harder Great Walks in my opinion, although the age recommendation is ten my brother was seven when he did it. He survived, but it took a toll on him. If you are afraid of heights I wouldn't recommend this because during most of the second day, if you trip, you will go rolling down the cliff.

Hiked the first part up to the end of the treeline back in February. Easily the most stunning place I've ever been. The forest is incredibly lush and the trails are well maintained. It helps to have waterproof boots during the rainy season as mud does accumulate quite a bit. Once you get past the treeline prepare to be amazed with stunning views of the surrounding snowcapped mountains and lake below. I will definitely be back to complete the loop when I'm outfitted with enough gear.

I loved the hike along the top (once I got there!) along the ridge. Beautiful views...you feel like you’re on top of the world. Side hikes to the cave and waterfall are a must!
