awesome ride but very exposed. horrendously windy on the Featherston side of the summit. There is a part where they recommend cyclists get off and walk and we did.
Otherwise a great ride glad we have done it both ways. took about 3.5 hours return

great trail. Best done on a fine day. Read the train timetable wrong so walked back again. 4 hours there and back .

Great views of Kapiti Island, worth starting South end and popping into Paekakariki at the end.

Better start in Paekakariki and train back

great trail rode this with the family yesterday. Rode from the Te Marua side to the summit and back down. 21km all up.

The incline suggests a steep walk but even though uphill all the way to Summit was a very achievable day walk. Loved it.

excellent trail, fairly difficult definitely would be a task to do there and back in one day but builds up the fitness

Absolutely great views if the weather is right (but absolutely miserable if it's abnormally windy, so definitely check the forecast before going). This trail climbs above and beside Highway 1, but noise was never a huge issue for us.

Pro tip: if you want to climb up less stairs, the north to south route is the way to go. There are a lot of stairs at the beginning of the south to north route that can make the walk initially difficult, whereas the north to south route starts you off at a steady climb.

good trail to run

Nice views, lots of stairs. There’s a bit of road noise from the track as it runs along hwy 1. Took 2 hours and 45 min to complete. Main negative is having to walk an extra km from the train station in Paekakariki to the start of the track.

amazing views

Great walk if you include a loop back on the other side of the Gorge. Why go back the same way. The loop trail is marked. Nice and cool in the tunnel.

I loved this track although went out to do 18kms as described and turned wrong which shortened the run to 8.6!

Good mountain bike track. Did this with a company that picked us up from the other side which was helpful.

This is a great trail, bit of a climb up to the summit but defintely runnable. There are tunnels so take a head torch (or other light). Once at the top, it id downhill to the carpark.
