Walking

I did this March 2019. I was not prepared. I thought it was a walking trail and it was so steep. I was very out of shape at the time so it was tough. Now I would be fine.

Great easy hike, we did it to the hut and back to carpark in 2hrs 50min. Mostly flat. Nice scenery

Hiking

Lovely hike, I’d say it’s pretty low end of moderate/ high end easy level. It’s shorter than expected and not too tough. A little steady climb at the start below the ski lifts. we went during autumn and it was beautiful. Just be careful of the drive up as it’s steep and windy. Have to pay a small fee if you’re driving up when it’s not ski season.

Nice walk through the forest for most of the hike until the end where you see the mountains for a few minutes. Kind of underwhelming, not too challenging.

Beautiful multi day hike that first requires you to take a ferry to the trail head. It rains much of the year on this trail so be very prepared for rain and for sandflies. The trail is mostly under cover of the temperate rainforest until the pass. Be very careful on the tops because it will be foggy and it's easy to think you can explore and then fall right off bc you can't see. Book 11 months in advance as it sells out. Photography shots are on my IG.

Have done this track twice and it's one of my favorites I've done in the whole world (so far). I recommend starting from the Divide end because the views are more rewarding and it's easier to get a ride from a transfer company when you're done since you'll be closer to QT. Make sure to visit Key Summit and prepare to spend some time up there. It's breathtaking too. Highly recommend this multi day hike. You must book a few months in advance. All my photography is on IG.

Super vue panoramique depuis le sommet, ça vaut vraiment le coup ! Préférez le passage Est, moins boueux et humide que le chemin Ouest.

Awesome viewpoint. A lot of mud, it is better to have good hiking boots.

Totally good track but I think it's more difficult than moderate during this winter time because of muddy and icey road, sometimes you need to use hands and feet together.

HikingSnow

Hiked the trail on the winter solstice. Beautiful conditions, with plenty of snow underfoot. Broke in new snowshoes, but didn't really need them as plenty of people (well 10-20) I passed going up or down were managing pretty well with just boots. Nevertheless they gave me the extra confidence to come down the trail at a reasonable pace. The trail itself is fine - I would classify it as medium for reasonably fit walkers. The views on a bluebird winters day are stunning. Great views of Aspiring, Wakatipu/Remarks, central Otago and into the Gibbston valley. Wanaka along with Cromwell very sitting under an inversion layer of cloud, which just added to the drama. Right up there with the best walks in the area.

HikingBridge out

I arrive at around 11:00 am and there was only one other car in the lot. The footbridge was out at roughly 1km in, but you can easily get buy along the side of the river. You just have to go over the caution tape put up. The trail is terrifically well marked with orange markers, look out for them. I could barely see the lake at the top for all the fog, but I wanted to get out even despite the rain.
