Took us a little over an hour to get to the top. Not to shabby for a couple of 50 something’s. It’s a tough hike up but shaded which was very helpful. Incredible views at the top!

My wife and I did this with our kids (2 and 4) on our backs for most of it. It MAY be rated easy. But definitely not with 40 lbs on your back. Also felt longer than 3.7 miles. Health app said 5.5. We went clockwise, crossing the bridge at the beginning. Amazing well kept trail through lots of shade next to the river. Some pretty steep sections all the way through. Birds and rapids heard throughout. The waterfall and cabin and views from the top near the lake were the highlights. Loved it!

Beautiful views and flowers, not the easiest walk for little ones or older people. Still awesome

Awesome and easy walk for the kids as well. Enjoyed it

good walk

great view

Short and sweet. We saw two sea lions and a small cove. Super windy at the top of a cliffside.

A lot of work both up and down (hard on your knees downhill) and the gondola area is busy at the top, so you don't get a nice peaceful ready to take in the view. Nice that it's very shaded, though and close to town with water refill at the top.

Got there at 7:30am and the gate was open and only one other car in the parking lot. The trail was very easy and we got to see a lot of seals, bunnies and birds. Sadly no penguins. But the views were great and there was an abundance of seals!

Short hike to some amazing wonders!!!

Challenging for sure, it’s a pretty steep and constant ascent the entire way up. In the summer, the trees provide welcome shade but do obscure any view. It took us a little over an hour to get to the top. Not sure where the distance estimation came from, it’s probably closer to 1.5 miles one way (to the summit). The view from the top is fantastic, just not sure if it was worth the trek up when there is a gondola.

this trail is amazing! so many seals sunbathing :)

Worth the drive to Kaka Point. Very rugged landscape, different from most of the landscape we’ve seen in NZ. Walk all the way out to the end for the best view. Saw a few seals along the way.

Nice waterfalls but not worth the drive to get there.

Pretty falls. Worth it. 30 mins round trip. Easy for the 1st half few steps and slippery rocks for the second

great hike for day of arrival or with kids - great views, easy to get to.

Nice walk. Beautiful views.

Unreal! perfect short hike that doesn't consume your whole day! The scenery is beautiful.

Quick walk with good views at the top

This track appeared abandoned. after 5mins walk the only way forward was a river crossing. Best to walk from the car park across the bridge and up the trail on the other side of the river.

A true marvel!

Very short hike, uphill to the view of the falls. Worth the uphill trek. Be careful of slippery rocks on the path as water may sometimes flow down the sides of the trail.

It’s fun!

We went left from the car park which gave views of Wanaka and the lake while going up. Then the way down had views of the other side which was less exciting and also had a .5 mile walk around the base to get back to our car. Fun quick hike with good views. Lots of runners and dogs.

There is more to this area than meets the average tourist's eye! Start the walk at Hampden north of the Moeraki at an outgoing tide and you will find a graveyard of disintegrated boulders along the way. You can even see two boulders appearing from the rocks above the beach! After the 'real' boulders continue on along b the Millennium Walkway to the village. Return to Hampden for the best Fish and Chips ever or treat yourself to an enormous one-stop icecream at the 4 Square there!

I did the hike today. Was beautiful weather after having snow the last few days. If you regard easy as a flat walk this hike isn’t for you. The trail is in great condition but steep in places. Beautiful scenery.

A nice easy short hike, but steep enough you’ll break a sweat.

Pros:
-So easily accessible from Queenstown.
-Nice option to take gondola down if tired (or continue onto Ben Lomond saddle/summit, or moonlight track) if looking for more
-Well labeled and conserved path
-Steepness keeps path a worthwhile challenge
-Heavily shades
-Great reward for effort, too has restaurant w/ outdoor seating, toilets, and the luge tracks!

Cons:
-Not amazing views for most of the hike (when compared to the surrounding area)
-Do have to keep an eye out for xx bike paths occasionally
-Terrible on the knees on the way down (I’m 32 w no knee issues)

*If I was doing a bigger hike from the top of the gondola, I would probably skip the Tiki, and opt for the gondola both ways, your knees will thank you.
