Tobins and s a great little outing with your horse Once you cross a small river ( can get higher after a lot of rain- then only cross if you are experiencing in river crossings) It’s a uphill climb to a day with a platform and nice view perfect to tie up horse for some grass and have a picnic - you can ride further to the end of Gllencoe Rd Bikers are normally kind and stop & communicate how to pass Ieach other safely without freaking out horses And everyone seems to enjoy seeing horses Please make sure to kick any poo of the track and enjoy a nice ride

Good gravel road track if you want to get the heart pumping. If you like a challenge you can access track to climb Mt Beetham which is 1.8km advanced up hill but worth the view at the top but take water if you are planning to do that.

Decent trail, muddy in some parts but gorgeous view of Arrowtown especially in the fall!

Really fun! Little jumps over the river a bunch but it was easy. Great views either way. We went counter clockwise. This was is move of a scramble up but a lot shorter ascent. Clockwise is a lot longer and I think more challenging with a consistent gradient

Agee with everyone saying to go anticlockwise. Was a icy and slippery in a lot of places. Decent footwear recommended.

Great track, recommend going counter clockwise. Potential for feet to get wet with crossing stream but rocks there. Detour to the summit, the hike up is worth the views. Narrow and icy in places. This is a great hike.

Very fun moderate hike. Some areas are wet and muddy. But you can hop around the rocks to avoid the water.

First day out of Alert Level 4 lockdown and the timing couldn’t be more perfect . We can now go on short drives within our region and short hikes. We are currently in the peak of Autumn and Arrowtown is considered one of the top places on earth to view the Autumn Colours . Today as the sun shone we hiked up Tobins Track to New Chum Gully and looping back via the Arrow River . Absolutely stunning!

Beautiful trail, lots of diversity with river, forest and views. I recommend going counter clockwise as steeper parts up are followed by level parts

Technically demanding. Great views and certainly feels private, but the trail itself is quite narrow and considerably overgrown - requires your full attention to keep your footing sure. I sometimes run trails, but would not have been able to do so on this one. Some areas of downhill is quite steep and may involve a bit of scrambling. The downhill bit leading to the bridge was steep and hard on the knees. Was wearing shorts but would recommend long pants to protect from the brush. Would definitely recommend going counter-clockwise from Tobins Track to the Norman Smith Bridge and then back into town on the Arrow River Trail. It’s easy to miss the gated access from Tobins Track going up. No water or amenities on the trail, so bring your own.
