nice walk with a sort of ethereal view of Whangarei Falls at one end. several different track options along the way either side of the river. pretty straightforward walk, pretty scenic.

stunning trail past layered rocks, Pohutukawa, rocky headlands and the odd beach. Riparian access across private land in places past grazing stock. dogs must be on lead or can be seized or shot. extremely muddy after rain. skills required. ropes and ladders in places . Not easy, more of a moderate hike. also not really a loop as it's return is via a road not a track.

Easy trail for age groups, well maintained.

Lovely trail, uphill near the beginning can be challenging for some but was an amazing little adventure for me and my pals. As you near Russell with about 40mins left to go you’ll pass a service station where u can pick up snacks and use the loo. Beautiful scenery that wasn’t dulled by some rainy showers

It took as about one hour to get to the top. There was around 1100 steps. The view was rewarding.

these caves are pretty awesome. there are three. they all have glow worms. I managed to do all right through one but others I don't kno about cos the water was to high after rain. they have streams through them.

The huts in a cool place to spend a night or more. Never fished but it looked like an area you'd definitely want to try. Hike is pretty tough going sometimes but all good. Beautiful views of the Whangarei harbour and heads area. So many fantails!

The 360 views are just stunning. I so wish I stayed for a sunrise or sunset. Make sure its sunny when you go and all the colours of the water will make you go crazy ❤️

Stair way to heaven but worth the sweat especially if you’re going on a sunset

Lovely view along the coastline. Highly recommended!

Highly recommended if you’re in Whangarei

Incredible views

Nice short hike with incredible panoramic views of the surrounding area. If it rained recently, can be muddy towards the bottom of the hike. My friend did a spiderman slide down sort of fall things coming back down ahahah.

Wonderful walk along the beach and hills. Yet be aware of the tide, when high you can not walk on the beach at many points, you can get stuck on the way back (we were, so we walked through the very dense bush on the sharp sides of a hill, we managed to stay alive). Worth it, though !

Do not be fooled by the 1 hour hike. It was freaking exhausting lol. Well worth it though. Outstanding view.

An incredible experience. We hiked from Deep Water Cove which is approximately 5km 1 way. The track is very well kept, although skinny and slippery in places therefore I wouldn’t consider the hike ‘family friendly’. The Peninsula is rich in history and it is awesome being able to stay in 1 of the original houses. Highly recommend!

Loved this hike! The track is well kept, often offering panoramic views East and West. The hike takes approximately 1 hour 1 way and is not to strenuous.

This hike is pretty amazing. I got lucky and hit the hike on a clear, comfortably warm day which made all the views, and the views should not be underrated, just incredible. Lots of steep ascents and descents on this hike.

Great views! There is water at the carpark (close the the lighthouse) if you wanna refill before to come back to the campground.

Try to do it at low tide. Go along beach front and go into the bush by a sign. Nice bush walk rather than a road. More hills but extremely nice when you get to the top

8.3km via seaview road and takes one hr to run

Nice easy walk to do when time is limited.

Definitely do the loop if It's low tide. Through the hole in the rock and back. I recommend to wear good shoes for the upper and rocky parts and no shoes for the sandy parts. :) Oh, and a refreshing dive when your finished off course.

nice walk along the coast with scenic views. Would definitely check the tides to do the loop through the beach!

We took the Explore Cape Brett Service to Deep Water Cove, this allowed us to hike out and back again in the same day. Explore pick you back up and bring you back. The skipper was really helpful and the heaps of information was given. This track is amazing!

The track goes all the way to the Stone Store.
