Plenty of parking and toilets nearby. Good easy walk up and down. A popular spot though, so be prepared tok see lots of people in your photos down below.

nice walk with a sort of ethereal view of Whangarei Falls at one end. several different track options along the way either side of the river. pretty straightforward walk, pretty scenic.

these caves are pretty awesome. there are three. they all have glow worms. I managed to do all right through one but others I don't kno about cos the water was to high after rain. they have streams through them.

An incredible experience. We hiked from Deep Water Cove which is approximately 5km 1 way. The track is very well kept, although skinny and slippery in places therefore I wouldn’t consider the hike ‘family friendly’. The Peninsula is rich in history and it is awesome being able to stay in 1 of the original houses. Highly recommend!

We took the Explore Cape Brett Service to Deep Water Cove, this allowed us to hike out and back again in the same day. Explore pick you back up and bring you back. The skipper was really helpful and the heaps of information was given. This track is amazing!

Nice short hike with great view out to the ocean at the end. Careful going at high tide as you might get stranded!

Amazing! We did the walk in 6 hours one way (rather fit and experienced walkers). But it’s recommended for about 7-8 hours. The majority of the hike is shaded and in the forest. During or after heavy rains walking sticks would be a must! and experience in walking in muddy terrain. However, during sunny and dry weather, as we had, it’s a good walk - sometimes a bit steep but rarely exposed or technically difficult. Views are mind-blowing. Also the accommodation at the end is really cute and cosy (former lighthouse keeper house). You need to book via the DOCs website. There was tank and rainwater available on the walk and at the end (hut), but I’d recommend a steripen or similar if you’re unsure of drinking rain water. Importantly is that there was water, but best to ask in advance at the DOCs office. Agree that anyone with moderate fitness can attempt the walk. If you’re unsure if you have the energy for 8 hours (up to 9) after rain, on two days (return), then perhaps get the boat to Deep Creek Cove and walk the last third of the hike- which is also the best!! (Secenery, diversity of the hike) Bring a towel and swimmers on sunny days there’s a wonderful safe swimming spot just below the hut, easy, paved concrete access into the secluded little cove.

Excellent hike, amazing views. Quite steep but not awful - anyone of moderate fitness should be fine. It can be very exposed in places so be careful of high winds! The hike can be made shorter by catching a boat to Deep Water Cove which is 2.5 hours from the end of the Cape.

Great nz Bush walk. Amazing Kauri

Super pretty, I ran most of it. Saturdays are a little too busy. I'll probably hit it again during the week next time.

I love this hike. It has a great path, forestry, ocean views, but be ready for the lots and lots of steps.

What a lovely route... beautiful!!!!!

Great easy walking, picturesque bush, river and waterfall

Friday, April 20, 2018

nice easy hike that runs past the falls and then cuts in front of the falls along a walk bridge at the base. taking the trail further you walk along the river and then into a Kauri forest where you can see a few very large Kauri trees. overall, it is a nice hike and quite easy.
