Nice walk with awesome views. Took a bit of an accidental detour 3km in through a reserve heading back towards coast, but still beautiful views, and used app with live gps to find our way back towards initial route out. Slippery at times and walking over exposed tree roots at times. Came back via beach so lots of walking over rocks to get back to car. Had our fit 8 year old with us and he managed ok. We needed to walk through sea for maybe 50m but as close on low tide mostly climbing over rocks. Understood dogs allowed so had ours with us mostly on leash (off leash climbing over rocks) but signs around parking show dogs not allowed. There were a couple of other dogs but also got told off by worker when close by and returning to parking that dogs not allowed and if ranger spots us we’ll be fined. Said north of Gordon’s road ok for dogs so a bit confusing.

Sans interet. Vue sur la route. Ne perdez pas votre temps.

This is an amazingly beautiful trail on a sunny day - well worth the trip up from Welly! i don’t suggest going on a wet or windy day since it is mad steep in some places. If you are taking the train, the trail begins/ends at the Paekakariki and Pukerua Bay stations - you can walk either way but unless you are a glutton for punishment or really fit, I suggest starting at the Paekakariki end.

I headed off from Gebbies Pass carpark. I’d say I’m of average fitness. Took 1 hour 40 mins. Pretty steep in some bits. Great variety of views and pathways. View from hut is spectacular. Hut itself is quaint and atmospheric I loved my outing

Accidentally found my way. onto this path and hiked all the way from the city to the end. My suggestion is to go when you know what you're signing up for, and bring lots of water! not the easiest trail for beginners due to it's length, but not impossible! Amazing views!

I had very short time to do this trek and guess what this is the perfect fit for short time. It wasn't that challenging, Can get really "windy" at the top of the ski fields. the view from the top was breathtaking.

Nice trail for walking and interesting as well

Fantastic views, some trails some asphalt, cafe’s to stop at enroute. As a tourist in NZ would definitely do again. Parked car on coast where 180 min free parking.

Short but very steep hike (half day) with rewarding views

Very easy trail. Family friendly with a historical background. The tunnel looked lovely but it was extremely muddy. Good way to kill an hour

Yeah was awesome day, lots of traffic, until my partner slipped on loose gravel and broke her ankle and had to get the Helicopter In to get her out haha. Wear sturdy shoes. Unluggy as.

fun albeit short experience walking in the trees among the mini suspension bridges. Only other treewalk I've done is in Vancouver. Each had their advantages but I felt this was the more enjoyable of the two due to being much less crowded and a longer track with less wide, more "responsive" bridges :) afterwards there are other nearby trails to explore in case you didn't get your fill with the 0.4 miles on the bridges

I wouldn't come here JUST for this trail, but the tunnel is absolutely worthwhile, especially when combined with the Windows trail and other sites in the area. The tunnel has fantastic echo and you can get some phenomenal pictures from inside

Beautiful track, relatively well signposted. Nice bright shiny painted hut. Plenty of space for extra people if bunking an issue. Hot pools great and scenery top notch.

Not what I would call “easy” given the up-and-down hills near Okiato.
