Not what I would call “easy” given the up-and-down hills near Okiato.

Primo running trail. Almost entirely on crushed gravel surrounding the lake. Goes by bird conservation center and visitor center. Not much shade at 4:30 PM in Feb, so apply sunscreen!

Hiked during summer... Negatives- There is a small fee at the bottom of the mountain. Half of the trail is a gravel road under construction for the ski resort. Positives - absolutely beautiful views on the drive up and down the mountain with places to pull over for photos. The second half of this walking track is a beautiful rocky trek with streams along the way. The end of this short trek is very rewarding with a beautiful blue lake.

Randonnée plutôt facile avec un passage rocailleux ou il faut plier les jambes pour monter. La loop ne vaut pas le coup car la descente donne sur la route, il vaut mieux faire aller-retour à partir du point indiqué pour avoir la vue 2 fois.

Great trail, did it while it was raining and had a blast. Trail is pretty wide open. some areas are uneven and can get slippery in the rain. the back part of the trail that's fairly straight has alot of bikers coming down the hill. you'll have to get out of their way bc they won't have time to

Beautiful views going up and from the top! The return is less exciting especially the part going along the road.

Limited shade, but good ameneties along the way. Toilets, water fountains, benches and bicycle repair tools. Plenty of bird life to see along the way.

Nice walk. A happy 3yo walked all of it in 2hours (and with mangos, cake and lots of stories). Great view on the lake on the way up.

Good track for workouts.

Fun, fairly easy trail. Well marked and maintained. We connected with another trail and continued to Tapeka Point for some awesome views!

It's not easy finding walks you can do with dogs in the Waikato, so when I read about Lake Ngaroto I was happy we can take the dog a decent length to wear him out. Scenic views of the lake. The walk is a series of boardwalks, bush or gravel paths. Very peaceful and loved the bird songs.

Very crowded. Otherwise awesome

A trail that seems to have good accessibility - suitable for kids and kids in prams, and maybe wheelchairs? Not a lot of cover from the elements. A good distance /circuit for a quick walk or run. We enjoyed listening to the Te Ara Wai recordings for Ngā Roto (see the signs / QR codes).

Easy hike with moderate incline at beginning. About half has no shade. No bugs. Great views of Wanaka. About 1.5 hours at easy pace.

FEE! I did this walk a year ago and it was absolutely gorgeous! I came back to do it and there’s now a barrier before the road up where you have to pay $10. Seems a bit high of a price for a walk I did for free just last year. I chose to go do something else instead.

Track is closed 09.02.2020 due to very high fire danger

Paths starts from the beach, views are fab from the kick off. Lovely coastal walk. Some ups and downs but fairly easy. Seeing the WW2 structures was an added bonus. Gorgeous views. Lots of sheep around. When you reach the ‘peak’ it’s not clear where the path continues. We ended up taking the mountain bike path back, which was actually super quick on foot haha. As usual NZ weather, sun, winds and rain during this 3 hour total trail (2hrs there, 1 back).
