Stunning views all around (5 stars), but soooo crowded it’s like Disneyland! (3 stars because of that). Final rating is 4 stars, or maybe 3.5, just so crowded. Very easy hike though.

The views of the lake are spectacular!

Phenomenal views, but extremely heavily trafficked.

Possibly one of the best hike I ever did, great scenery all the way from the round of the Lake to the view on the mountain higher. Once at the summit, you can either go to the carpark with a short 30-60min way but we decided to return on the same way.. it was that good !!

Gorgeous, super easy trail. Clouded in during the morning, but cleared up in the afternoon to beautiful blue skies and clear views of Mount Cook. Heavily trafficked, but the trail is wide and well maintained. Great bridges and boardwalks. Plenty of places to stop and take gorgeous photos without people in them.

Nice trail with quite steep ascend to Mt John. Lot's of people at the summit but the trail itself is not that crowded

Nice for an easy hike to see the mountains a little closer and the lake. Gets very crowded by late morning.

Merveilleuse randonnée facile, mais très populaire.

Great and nice walk despite the strong wind due to the beautiful view from the summit. It took me 2 hours return without real stops.

Be sure to call ahead for your private property permit. This hike starts out on a 4-wheel drive track that is a steady climb up with great views for a couple miles. But then the "hard" part of the hike begins. We gave it a shot, but decided it was too dangerous due to steepness, loose rocks & loose terrain...we turned back with no regrets. We are 65+ & have 15 more days in NZ!! Again we enjoyed the beauty of this area on the way down.

This was ranked as hard and shouldn’t be underestimated. About 6km in the track goes down a steep hill and across rock slides. Beautiful view on way up but you will see where I had to turn back. Definitely need poles and a safety beacon.

A super easy hike even for people that don’t hike often (like us). Worth going the whole way! Lots of cool areas to see. Going around 4pm was BEAUTIFUL to see the golden hour begin on the landscapes

A nice trail along the creek. A few trees on the trail and a little overgrown in a few places but not a problem.

Went clockwise through the forest first then down round the lakeside, amazing views across the lake. Started early around 8:30am for a good spot to enjoy a coffee at the top (though photos may be a bit dark since the sun wouldn't be on our side) easy to identify track, can pay to drive up to the car park but I would recommend just taking your time to go up as it is well worth the fresh air

I went anticlockwise and recommend this as the views are great. Extremely windy at the summit...so much so that I had to sit down for a few minutes so that I didn’t blow away. Heaps of rabbits hopping away and a great leg workout for the first quarter. 2.5 hours with some stops.

Great walk! Beautiful lake and mountain views. highly recommend
