Godley Head offers spectacular views over the ocean. The part that goes from Taylor's Mistake to Godley Head is the most beautiful part. It can be made a loop track by following the path at Godley Head towards Lyttleton. At the first car park climb the hill on your left and follow the track towards the summit road and the crater rim walk. Cross the summit road and you can walk down to Taylor's Mistake. I love this track as it is good for running too. The first part of the walk was a couple of weeks ago overgrown, but that's all fixed now.

Trail doesn't have much trees mostly going up. Good 1 hour walk. Even by yourself

the track is okay, but the chair lift is really nice

Busy Godley head walkway and overgrown route towards Tunnel route. This route was also not well kept.

Very nice and easy hike along the cliff with beautiful views

Superb walk with incredible views! Well maintained and not crowded despite a sunny Saturday afternoon.

This was a great walking track. Follow the DOC directions. The track starts just before the ford. Drive down pass the sign on the gate stating 4WD only for ford crossing. There is a room for parking by the start of the walking track.

It's definitely nice to have an off leash forest walk so close to Christchurch. It is definitely a bit underwhelming and can be busy at times. But nonetheless, a great convenient short hike that is truly pup friendly (which is really lacking in this country!)

I would recommend this track. A little steep for me but really worth the view once at the top. A lovely sunny day

Amazing views, great reward of chair lift back down the mountain

Easy trail, lots of people and dogs!

Lovely invigorating walk! Great views from the top of Mt Ada. Will be great when some of the newly planted vegetation grows more.

Quick and easy elevated walk, even for unfit people like me!

Worth the effort, really easy walk with a bit of up and downs in the start and finish but the views bows your mind if its a sunny day.

Best walk in Christchurch by far. Great views of the water, cliffs, and waterfalls. Tons of birds to see as well.

Do not follow the directions!! Takes you to a private property, had to drive another 35km back towards Amberley. Directions from DOC website: From Amberley, follow Douglas Road, then Cramptons Bush Road until the road reaches the Lake Janet picnic area (17 km from Amberley). Turn left into Mount Grey Road, then right into Okuku Road to reach the Grey River picnic area (3.5 km from the the Lake Janet picnic area). Red beech track is definitely hard way up.

Great trail, however it is a shame that half of the trail is closed, which is the best part where the caves are.

It is true that the view is nice but it is not worth risking your life! Extremely dangerous and is even more beautiful by taking the path that leads to the top of the cave. I got lost because the path is so badly maintained that I did not see it, at the intersection I took left instead of right ... but it does not matter, the view was worth it . Hiking really not recommended
