Absolutely beautiful.

Well maintained track with LOADS of stairs! We hopped over the fence at the end to see the base of the falls. A good cardio workout and super pretty.

Challenging with a 360’ reward

Great flat trail , views are stunning. Lots of people, but with views like this it's easy to see why. Most people are friendly and polite. 3 suspension bridges to cross both ways, bring a lunch and water. Good for all levels!

We did this hike Feb 9th. Beautiful sunny day. Nice exercise as you traverse a total of 3 suspension bridges each way. Bring a lunch or snack to eat at picnic tables at the final lake site. Quite a lot of people use this trail, so be prepared.
We heard a couple of ice sections collapse up in the higher mountains. The steel grey glacier melt water is fantastic to see. Great little day hike!

I'm not sure why this is rated as easy... it's quite steep but the views are worth it.

Very crowded / easy walk. The views are nice but you mostly see the same thing the whole way (I went on a rainy/cloudy day though). You could probably just do the first 30-45 minutes and see most of it.

Tons of traffic on a beautiful day. The icebergs in the cafe au lait water at the end was pretty neat.

great walk. nice view. start by the lake shore !

too much people

There are 300+ tall steps, 600 round trip. The trail is a tourist attraction and used extremely heavily. Although it is a nice falls, the base of the falls, the "Punch Bowel, cannot be seen from the boardwalk trail-end without climbing where over the safety rails, climbing past warning signs, then scrambling up a roughly worn path.

Well maintained stairs and trail to pretty lookout platform. Nice trail.

Love rapaki

It is absolutely gorgeous surrounded by glacial mountains and waterfalls the whole way. You get rewarded with icebergs in the blue, glacier-water lake for the grand finale. Watch for bunnies along the way!

Nice short hike up and back on forest trail.

Nice short hike up and back on forest trail.

Doesn’t get much better than this! Amazing glacial mountain and valley views culminating in a lake with rocky mountainside or beachside picnicking spots. Plus three swinging bridges which offer great vistas of the rushing glacial river water below. There is a restroom at the halfway point, so don’t worry about ducking off the trail to find coverage in the abundant shrubbery. Very easy trek with wide gravel path and little elevation, yet still rewarded with stunning views the whole way. Recommend going early to avoid the crowds, but more important is to pick a time when visibility is high so you can marvel at the landscape.

the combination of suspension bridges, teal glacier runoff fed rivers with gentle waterfalls, three lakes, icebergs, prominent peaks, and glaciers make this one of my all time favorite hikes.

What a nice river ! The water from the glacier makes it completely amazing

I combined this with the stone bay peak. If you want the to reach the summit easy, take a right and the shortcut. If you want a challenge, take a left and follow the markings for the summit.

Easy trek with an amazing view on the hooker lake and the mount cook

Pleasant 4 mile return hike to foot of Glacier. Beautiful view on the way and at the point itself. Easy trail with moderate climb on way out and quick return. If you only have a day or two here it’s perfect scenic trail.

Great in the dry, a tendency to be slippery after rainfall in Forrest sections. Great fun.

Short well maintained walk to a nice summit with picnic area. Loop is not well signposted. Good family stroll

Great Walk. Huts are great. Track is very poor

Yes this is the filming location for Edoras in Lord of the Rings. It is as beautiful as you might expect if not more, and the completely untouched landscape will leave you breathless. You generally will not see too many people up here. Watch out for cow patties, but otherwise it's an easy hike.

Amazingly beautiful river. Take a boat ride if you can.

Easy flat hike with beautiful views of Mt Cook. Nearby campground is excellent and right at the start of this trail!

We did a portion of this track off cruiseship. What a beautiful hike rewarding us with peace, quiet and awesome views. Check online to find where you start out from Akaroa, or stop in at the i-site which is nearby.
