There is an entrance fee of NZ$37.50 per adult for the hike. I repeat. You have to pay to hike. Screw that.

Being from the midwest of The United States, this trail WAS challenging. A LOT of stairs. However, it was NON STOP beautiful sights! I highly recommend for tourists who want to see beautiful geothermal sights & sounds! Worth every step!

Great hike. We went up after the rains so a lot of water coming down the trail in places but that made it fun. The view from the trig station is awesome. Hung out up there for around 30 minutes and snacked, then made our way back down. Overall a fairly easy hike.

Awesome for using the climb for fitness training

nice little walk for being in town. not a wilderness trail but gives nice views of the town and ocean.

5 stars for the absolute beauty of this trail. We came off a cruise ship and were able to walk right to the trailhead a few hundred meters away from the dock. Go early if you are there during the hot season because there will be more people on the trail as the day progresses. It was very hot on the day we did this and were so glad we brought water and were well covered. Gorgeous!

Strenuous! Take water on a hot day, the views are amazing and the top is an awesome vantage point.
