Very steep track compared to other ways up Mt Thomas but worth the push to the top

Makes for a great long there-and-back trail run.

Great walk, not busy and amazing views!

excellent, muddy but you will be in the stream most of the way anyway, so there is time tip wash your shoes;) Take shoes that can handle being under water and provide good grip on slippery wet rocks.

Be careful of the gps directions here. I got there via Amberley and I’m unsure if the other way works. You can also walk up to the look out and the peak from the Lake Janet picnic area, which is a nice easy hike up and down in around 2 hours.

Steep walk at first but amazing views at the top. I walked along the ridge and down the wooded gully track and that was beautiful but a bit wet in places.

Easy walk from the car park (15mins) , a few steep rocky steps, but manageable even with a toddler on a backpack. Good for families with little ones.

Ramble on. Sing my song. I was the eye in the sky. The trek was ok with nice views of Aukland from the top and around the vegetated crater. The caves were nothing to write home about. I would rate this as easy.

A lovely stroll out, 9km, 4x4 track, steady incline with a total ascent of about 430m up to mount Ada with panoramic views across the bays and all the way over to the southern alps on a clear day

Not much of a hike. Just a short walk however, nice views of Christchurch.

amazing walk. 1st one for me in NZ and looking forward to many more!!

This is a short and easy trail. We reached the summit probably after 15-20 mins. I brought my 2 yo toddler (w/o a backpack carrier) and we survived :) the views of the Auckland city & surrounding area is lovely.

Beautiful hike with not crazy elevations.

Breathtaking views. Walked it both ways with my 5 yo a few months ago. A full-day walk. Be careful to take plenty of water as there is none available on the track. Also, the bridge at the start of the walk on the Bethells Beach side has collapsed. The alternative route is via O’Neill beach but is subject to tide.

One of the most amazing walks I’ve been on, with many beautiful spots and some crazy adventures. Many parts though when we had to walk along/cross the river were particularly challenging after the light rain - particularly with my 5yo.

Lovely trail for those wanting to take a breather from the hustle & bustle of city. 1 hour easy walk with a tot on a backpack. You’ll be blessed with a serene views of Orakei basin, and lots of greenery surrounding the lake.

One of the entry points to the track to the cave is not what I could consider child friendly as it has a thin and more of an off track (gorse etc) route and is not signed well. The staircase is also a bit broken but easy enough to get up and down. Views are great and walk is pretty easy overall!

Top of bridle path up to to of gondola

good one to get the heart rate up. recommend.

Great track! Definitely recommend. Limited carpark so be prepared to park down the road on roadside. If your lucky you’ll get to see eels in the water. Bottom of stairs where the falls are you are able to have a cute little sit down to enjoy a break, take in the views and those selfies.

Good trail....but at the top of both trails it should be more clear as to the length of time to finish the route. It's a long trail
for anyone 10 and under.

excellent trails and good views. suitable for all ages.

Beautiful walk but beginners beware - the path is almost entirely stairs! Lovely lookout at the top makes all the climbing worth it.

Firstly it’s not closed, I was up there a few weeks ago just after it opened on Boxing Day.
A beautiful track with different route options available. Most of the track is easy but the last bit to get to water can be tricky.

the falls are beautiful

amazing views and trails are well marked. absolutley loved it
