Great

Great track, not any real views but a good distance!

This track is pretty easy, mostly flat so not that physically challenging. The only challenge is the walk through the sand dunes due to the steepness as well as the strong winds. And another challenge is the muddy track. It gets too muddy if you take the walk from the sand dunes on the left side then loop around the lake as you approach the waterfalls. Pretty cute waterfall and an easy walk back however be aware that you will have to cross the stream (very shallow) so your shoes will end up muddy and soaking wet. Otherwise a fun place to hike. Parking can be competitive so be there early. Also if you want bring a boogie board so you can do some sand boarding!

Quite a challenging track for me especially coming back to the car park. There were so many stair cases that I had to take a break since my legs are not that resilient. Otherwise enjoyed this track, I did enjoy the challenge too! I love the hanging bridge just after the car park and the walk to the waterfall is pretty easy. Although be aware to get to the waterfall you will need waterproof shoes if you don't want to get your shoes wet since I end up with soaked soggy socks, despite that the waterfall is so beautiful and also quite muddy as it comes with water areas.

Beautiful island. Grab the 0930 boat over and get the full day. The coast trail is well defined but a little rocky. You jump onto the Summit Road which is a drive able road. Just before the summit I went off course and checked out the Lava caves and then grabbed the summit hike to get to the top. Grabbed the tail behind back and around back down the front instead of the road back down. I was a little worried about time as the last boat is at 1530. DONT MISS THE BOAT!! Coming down the road I would uave gotten to see the light house and I think I would have had time. The trail down the front was nice too. Everything is well marked.

Walkway is simply along a beach overlooking Dotterel breeding areas
Nice view of the bay but an ever better spot to see New Zealand Dotterels and many other nesting birds
Didn't see anyone else along the beach

Fairly easy track but has some seemingly never-ending hills.
Some parts of the pathway are scenic but many parts are simply a department of conservation access road
Didn't see a single other person during my walk

Easy track through mostly grasslands
A few nice views of the coastline, and an excellent walk along the beach when the tide is low. Unfortunately lots of the canopy has been cleared away for farmlands
Medium traffic; saw a few runners and a couple other hikers along the way

Fairly easy trek with gentle hills and steps up the steeper gradients. A few spots of mud and minor washout.
Very nice views throughout of the coast, rock faces, and through forests.
Medium traffic; saw 5-10 other along the track

amazing views with every turn, no difficulties in passing through

Great! Bring food to rest for a while in one of the many spots enjoying stunning views and private beaches

Short Hike down through the bush to the beach, fairly steep at points with a rope to assist the final climb down to the beach. Great views from the top and down at the small beach looking out into the Manukau Heads. Good for a quick hike when time is short.

Visited from the US, really nice walk around the island. I took the 9:45am ferry which is 30$ NZD for round trip. I recommend making a day out of it and catching a morning ride out to the island, the last departure from Motatupu back to Auckland is 4pm I believe and they won't wait for you :)

I started with the summit hike and was going at a fairly good pace. I'm in fairly good shape so I made it in about 35 minutes. Views are ok, you get a nice 360 view of the island and can see the Auckland skyline from the top. If you want to continue exploring, the lava caves are about a 20 minute walk with some back tracking down the summit trail. Look for signs and trail markers, you'll miss them if you aren't paying attention.

From there, you could back track to the main summit trail and walk the roadway down to Yankee Wharf and connect to the Coastal Track (map: https://www.topomap.co.nz/NZTopoMap/nz6303/Yankee-Wharf/Auckland). PROTECT your ankles and wear hiking footwear! The Yankee Wharf spot is a nice place to have lunch and view the serene waters. With a few breaks along the way, I made it back to Rangitoto Wharf by 3:30pm. Good way to spend a day outside of Auckland and be back in time for dinner.
