A popular picturesque paved stroll to the Punakaiki "pancake" rocks and a surge pool with interesting interpretive signage along the way. Accessibility: The trail surface is paved and typically at least three feet wide. The grade is mostly gentle (all estimated 5% or less except for steep 10% sections at about 0.4 and 0.5 miles when going counterclockwise). Some of the viewpoints require staircases for access.Show more

Short track leading to a great view of the beach and stairs that can be taken down to the beach. The sand covers rocks in places and can go from soft to hard quickly and sporadically. Not much traffic in the area and can allow for some seclusion. Please note that parking is on the inside of a curve so be careful of traffic. Show more

This suburban trail is a wonderful place to go for an easy walk. It is a very dog-friendly park. There is a designated, shady parking lot accessed from entrances on both Baddeley Ave & Melanesia Rd, aswell as kerbside parking along all streets surrounding this park. You can also easily join the paved walkway from Baddeley Ave or Allum St, or it's only a 5min walk from Tamaki Drive. Public bathrooms and a fantastic, fenced childrens play area are also connected to this walkway.Show more

An alternative to traveling SH1 between Taupo and Wellington. Great lookouts.Connects with Feilding and Palmerston North How often have you driven on a state highway and only been focused on getting to your destination, or as you're driving you've hoped that there's something interesting to see and do nearby, but assumed there isn't because of the never ending stretch of flat farmland passing by. The Country Road, Manawatu, takes you off the main highways, away from heavy traffic, and through diverse landscapes. Driving The Country Road is equivalent to driving the 'back roads but with purpose. With map in hand you can telephone ahead to organise a devonshire tea, pop in to see a boutique mill, and know exactly which lane to take to get to the most spectacular viewing point for 50km.Show more
