It’s a bit of a pain, lots of unclear direction on the path, but interesting.

the best section of the Poon Hill loop as the anticipation of seeing the Himalayas peeking from the clouds grows to a spectacular sight

Absolutely incredible trek. I did this without a guide or Sherpa, which I really enjoyed. Tea houses every few hours in the villages you pass through offer food and accommodation - I hiked this trail in winter, so had no problem with availability. You’ll pass through mountain side rice fields, dense forests, snow covered mountains, green valleys, and beautiful villages that change as you ascend. The altitude hit me at about 2.5km high, but I took my time and didn’t need to backtrack or take medication. It’s very slow going at the top - start as early as you can for the Thorong La pass. Highly recommend!!

The most amazing, craziest and greatest accomplishment I’ve ever done by reaching Annapurna base camp. Astonishing and breathtaking landscapes. I loved this trip for so many reasons.

Completed this track in 91' at 8 y.o and thought to leave my mark here (today). The ascent is gradual, the track was less worn in and much raw back then, a bit hairy at some way points due to erosion and changing environment. There were villages spread out along the trail with friendly locals where you could stop for a milk tea or chat. The majestic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, to the eventual himalayan horizon were magnificent. Nearly 30 years on I look back at this adventure with sense of achievement and wonder. We tracked this in 25 days and took a well needed rest at Pokhara. I would recommend decent hiking boots (mine fell apart by the end of the trail) and another lung full of air for those who may experience altitude sickness especially as you reach Thorong Pass.

Early morning in the dark to see the sunrise. Tough hike but totally worth it. Hot chocolate at the top.

One of my all time favourite hikes, amazing views the entire time & the tea houses make it all the easier - I highly recommend getting out there, worth the challenge!

Easily the most incredible hike I’ve ever done. It’s a route full of endless views and was an unforgettable experience. I would recommend micro spikes for some of the descents depending on the season you visit - I went without and the route down from one of the passes was extremely sketchy due to the ice. In 2017 it required a pass obtained from Kathmandu in advance to enter the park, but we also had to pay the equivalent of £20 extra at an “official” outpost once on the trail as well.

Really nice Route, as a beginner it was the perfect length for me (walked slow, took me around two hours), really nice mixture of city and nature and a really nice view as a reward! Really calming atmosphere. The way back is off-trail, but you could also use a real pathway that will only take a bit longer.
