Mount Tlaloc, a non-active volcano, is part of the Iztaccihuatl Popocatepetl National Park located in the state of Mexico and close to the state of Puebla, is the ninth highest mountain in Mexico with 4150 meters above sea level. At the summit, you will find ruins of an archeological site where the Aztecs performed ceremonies offering human sacrifices, mostly children, dedicated to Tlaloc the god of the rain. Mont Tlaloc is considered the world’s highest temple site. You walk on a dirt road that goes through a beautiful forest with fantastic views. About 2.2 miles you can continue to your left on a narrow path not well maintained or follow the same dirt road to your right; both go by the side of the arroyo. The left side joins again the dirt road near the mile 3.1. At the mile 4.0 the path continues on a steepest narrow trail with some rocky sections not difficult to climb. Once at the top you can also see the Iztaccihuatl and Popocatepetl volcanoes in addition to the magnificent landscape in all directions.Show more

The trailhead to the Puente de Dios is located near the river just passing the small shops and restrooms (21.19672, -99.60590). The path goes along the riverbank, crossing the river several times using small wooden bridges. About a mile in, you will come across Angostura Canyon; a small section of the trail made of cement goes by the canyon wall. Stop for a moment and contemplate the landscape, touch the crystal clear fresh water and listen its sound. Almost arriving to the Puente de Dios, you will find small springs of fresh water. It is pure clear water. The Puente de Dios is a grotto and a waterfall in the same beautiful place. There are small areas where you can swim. Show more
