Turn off at the sign for aerodromo to park near a couple of old Airstream trailers. We made sure to check in with the family who lives here and ask permission before heading out on the trail. They were very gracious and their dogs even accompanied us for quite a while. Once we got started we spent most of the time following signs for what looked like a race that happened in the past. Watch for signs that say “Adultos” and/or “Infantil C” for the best trails. There are many options and it’s hard to get lost so don’t feel like you have to stick with our route.

In the vicinity, at the lake, there is nothing worth walking, due to private properties decending into the lake itself. Therefore, up in the hills we went. The Reserva Monte Alba gave us a nice alternative. Beware, there are many trails you can follow in this preservation. I admit we lost the exact one here on the app, but found a nice one: light blue indications, with a beautiful reward at the end: a nice vieuw on the lake.

Worth the effort! A very clear path the whole way, albeit a bit rocky in some places. The last 50 feet down to the beach is down some sharp slippery rocks, but we all made it just fine. Definitely better to wear close toed shoes, bring a hat because there’s no shade at all, and bring 2 bottles of water, and bring your swimsuit! Would definitely do this hike again, the views were unreal. Still worth it, even though we saw no sea lions on this day.

Fun trail. Not very hard but a nice work out. Didn’t see any sea lions, but still rewarding with some stunning views. lose rocks at points but I did it comfortably in trainers and my partner in sandals.

great morning hike. we went to the beach at the end of the trail and found the trail easy to follow, though a bit steep in a couple spots. On the way back we did the side trail to see the sea lions, that part is a bit of a scramble at times with long spines cactus right along side the rough trail. it was worth it though - the views are fantastic and in addition to the sea lions we saw at least 6 whales spouting and coming to the surface. Wear a hat and good hiking shoes and bring plenty of water.

Extremely nice trail with a lot of colorful bugs and a deer crossing

Chunk of the trail was a little suspect so didn’t make our way all the way to the water. But it was awfully pretty.

Walk around some gorgeous zapoteca ruins that date year 500-600 BC (if I remember correctly). The point is that the views are amazing and you won't regret it.
