Fabulous hike. Views are stunning. Vegetation varied and trail was completely free of trash. Yes, its steep and large parts have many loose rocks but we had children ranging from 5-12 years old and they did it. took us 6 hours up to top and back.

Rocky trail, we didn’t make it to the end since we were going with a 7 and 4 year old (good hikers). You can get some nice views halfway. We only met 2-3 other groups. There are several places to park next to the highway.

We went through the regular entrance this time but next time we will park further up round the curve of circuito de Ajusco, there is a unpathed road on the left that cuts onto the Ajusco summit loop. As your begging up On your right there is large logged Dams leading uphill, follow those upwards through the forest and out onto a steep climb of cool trees, grasses and rock scramble. There are white and green markers. Walk the first summit ridge and you’ll see the large white cross at the main summit. The first rock scramble is the hardest, after its a an enjoyable hike up. From the car to the White cross took 2 1/2 hours, from there we walked the ridge loop down and around to another steep scramble up and cross, we did not go for this, we followed the white markers to reconnect back across the valley to the steep rock climb we took up. White markers are frequent. On decent crossing the valley and back down the rock scramble and through the forest took a total of 1 hour.

Challenging hike. Washed out and rocky at times. Great mix of open space and forest-setting. Terrific for dogs. Bring proper shoes and lots of water, maybe some gloves.

Vas a necesitar buena condición física.

The climb was great. The downhill is a washed out creek so super slow going. The last 4 miles are on the highway. Amazing views. I’ll run it again.
