Wonderful trek along the river and becoming less populated the farther in. Sightings of domestic horses, cows and chickens with chicks and lots of noisy parrots and paraqueets in February. Rutted road and rocky in some places. We hiked in river sandals. The main bridge was taken out by a terrible flood late last year, a temporary footbridge is in it’s place.

I live in El Centenario near this area. I would not call this a trail so much as a desert road. Very stark and would be a very long, hot slog most of the year. The "river" mentioned is an arroyo. Like most arroyos here it is dry 99 percent of the time and treacherous during thunderstorms. Also filled with sand and very tiresome to walk in. Lot's of beauty to be found in this area but I can't recommend this as a hike. No facilities or water, very limited emergency response.

This was a surprising secluded hike right off the coast of the metropolis of Acapulco! We got to the island by private boat and paddled to shore at a tiny cove. A set of stone steps leads to an unmaintained cement trail that circles the island. There are stairs where the trail gets steep and several lookout spots with breathtaking views of crashing surf and jaw dropping cliffs we didn’t encounter anyone else on the western side of the island. Guided tours go from the beach on the eastern side to the lighthouse and tiny nautical museum at the top of the hill where there is a stunning view of the entire bay.

This is a fantastic hike, fairly rigorous with fantastic coastal vistas and beaches. We took a cab to Boca where our driver found the trailhead. We hiked about an hour to a beautiful little beach where there is a Restauraunt called Ocean Grille. (About an hour in). We made reservations the night before on dining app. Reservations for 11,12,and 1 only. Be sure to book. It was fantastic gourmet food and beautiful setting. Expensive but worth it. $80 for 2. After a swim we hiked to Los Animales. The path is up and down a little rugged but well maintained. Fantastic rocky / beach spots with some strong surf. Great picture taking vistas. Las Animales is about 1:20 from ocean grille. We took a water taxi back to Boca $100 pesos for 2. This is a beautiful hike that I wouldn’t miss.

Our favorite hike! We do it every year when we come to Cabo. We love joining Enrique and the dogs to see the amazing views. Wear good shoes and be prepared to climb up and down rocks.

If you are able to complete this hike you will likely find it a 5 star beautiful hike. We are mature, avid hikers who found the trail conditions - ruts, steep rocky narrow sections with lots of fine scree more than we were prepared to handle and so turned around. For some, hiking poles might be useful. In spite of that, we found the perfect high bluff to sit and admire the splendid scenery. One note, when you come to Campo 5 there is a chain gate and we paid 50 pesos to drive on out to the trailhead.

This was an incredibly picturesque trail. Anyone who starts from Las Animas instead of Boca is missing out. Yes, there is a cantina on the waterfall but buying a water of water gets you access. Although, pretty sure you could swim up the river and not pay to use the access point. Having bathrooms and changing rooms for wet clothes was well worth it. Out of respect for others, if you do this trail, please don't take donkey or horse. It isn't difficult elevation or terrain wise and the animal feces takes away from the experience.

Hiked in mid January 2020. Trail was in good shape, though trail head was hard to find. It is behind restaurant on kissing beach through break in fence. Took side trail to the beautiful beach, it would be a great place to camp overnight. All in all a good hike. Take lots of bug spray.

Sometimes we were not sure if we were on the trail. The ocean views made it worth it.

This trail DEFINITELY IS ACCESSIBLE, WETHER YOU ARE A GUEST OF THE RESORT OR NOT. You cannot DRIVE to the trailhead, but you can park and walk onto the property from the panga launch beach in Ligui (directly across the bay from the hotel). If they say anything, tell them Villas Palmar does not own the beach... they know this is true and they will leave you alone. If they insist, tell they you want to see the General Manager... then they will leave you alone for sure. Walk on the beach around the bay to the trailhead, and then you will be good-to-go. This is a nice hike, but there are better hikes near there.

Find nacho he has horses but he will also go for a scenic hike 200 pesos per person. He is the most fun and will take you where there aren’t other tourists.
