Explore the most popular wildlife trails in Baja California Sur with hand-curated trail maps and driving directions as well as detailed reviews and photos from hikers, campers and nature lovers like you.

My husband and I have done this drive twice. the coastal views from the road are fantastic. This drive is for adventurers who want to get off the beaten path and away from all the chaos. The road is bumpy in places and ALL dirt. It was adequately maintained for travel in most vehicles. We will likely take this road on our next trip with my mother and brother next week.

Awesome walk along the boardwalk and through some shopping areas. We also took in the Whale Museum. This area in La Paz is very beautiful and they work very hard to keep it that way. Every time I have been here there have been many workers raking the sand, sweeping and repairing the sidewalks, etc. There are so many beautiful sculptures all along the water as well. We'll be back in a week!

Awesome drive along the lower east cape of Baja from San Jose Del Cabo to La Ribera that I've done a couple of times. The 1st was with my brother and a good friend and more than a few beers and a few fishing poles with a few stops along the way. The 2nd time was in 2010 with my wife. She didn't have as much fun because the road is all dirt and road maintenance in Mexico is usually done "manana" and that can be a day, week or a year depending on who's talking... The highlight with my wife was when she saw some burros eating out of a roadside garbage can and told me to stop. When I did 2 burros tried to stick their heads in her window at the same time. One succeeded while I was about to die laughing as she was yelling "drive, drive, drive". The burro manged to get her sandwich out of her lap but missed the beer... The last time through they had built a lot of little beach shaded palapas along the water. The map is outdated and doesn't show a new marina at La Ribera as well even since I made the drive last...

Simply a beautiful area i almost lived in. The ocean here has so much life that the shells just stack up on the beaches. If you like to collect seashells this little walk is for you. We probably brought back 25 lbs from our different visits there. There are so many shells the city hires workers to shovel them off periodically to dispose of them. The water is very shallow, very warm and full of life. We walk in the water quite a bit and you see all kinds of fish swimming around you as you walk.

Cerritos Beach use to have one little beach front bar on it a dozen years ago but now, sadly it's more and more developed each year we go. I usually walk a mile or 2 down the beach and come back to a Negra Modelo but this day I had my wife drop my friend Brian and I, along with the 3 dogs we were care taking. First thing, the dogs found a rattlesnake, the only one I've ever seen down there in a decade. While I distracted it with a way too short stick Brian got the dogs away to safety... The walk was great with perfect weather and views.....and a cold one and a great early dinner at Cerritos Beach Club. Cerritos Beach has a world class surf break.
