Not sure how this is a moderate trail. Yes the first couple of miles are easy but easily the last 1.5 miles are an ass kicker! When you get to the top you will feel great because you earned that summit! Not a lot of foot traffic, make sure you take lots water.

Good trail. The loop itself is about 3.85 miles, nice and not to hard. The 2 summits are about .5 up each, these guys get your heart rate going. Not overly crowded, well maintained trail and trail head.

I can see the hard justification for this trail (I would rate it a more tough moderate but....). Here are my reasons......the first .53 miles of the trail are more of a desert stroll, not tough at all. The remainder 1.75-2 miles is where all the elevation gain happens. The trail is 1 long slow elevation gain. Not many flat spots once you get going, just a slow steady gain until the final uphill push to Dobbins tower. Amazing views from the top but your hikers high is quickly crushed by the tourist around you in crocs with selfie sticks around every corner at the top. Still a great hike, bring plenty of water.

Some pretty amazing views on this hike. Be warned this hike is hot, not a lot of shade or wind so even on a 78 degree day this hike was a ball buster. Make sure you wear sunscreen and have plenty of water. At times this trail is also like a choose your own adventure where you go a while without seeing a trail marker then all of a sudden you see 10 in a row. All this aside the views are worth the pain you will feel on bear mountain trail

A tough hike, lots of boulder hoping and steep incline almost the entire hike. But feeling from finishing this is worth the pain...
