Did this hike in March of 2018. Great way to get away from the busy city and awesome views of the canyon and the ocean!

William Schultz reviewed Grinnell Glacier Trail

Hiked June 20th, 2019. We were dropped off at the parking lot. The hike is easy at the start as you hike along a lake and then another, being Grinnell Lake. We started our ascent to the Glacier and stopped where the sign said, due to snowfall and meeting up with an off duty Glacier Park Ranger who also stopped. On our way back down, a grizzly bear was coming up the path. We had to turn around back up and wait. We continued this for almost an hour until the few of us with bear spray walked down the trail, yelling random things, until the bear finally got off the trail.

We told a few Europeans about the Grizzly and carrying bear spray and one said “Do you spray the bear with it or onto ourselves!” PLEASE READ THE BEAR HANDOUT THEY GIVE YOU AT THE ENTRANCE STATION!

This was one of the best hikes we’ve ever experience and the grizzly bear was the (unwanted) cherry on the top!

The trail name says it all! I love the meadows as they’re a vibrant green that collaborates well with the red of the Sequoias!

Loved the trail as the trees engulf you! The hike to the tree is very easy and going through the fallen Sequoia really puts everything in perspective!

Completed June 5th, 2019. If you are handicap, they have created a parking lot right near the tree! The hike is a great stroll down within the sequoias with a great view point of the “big” one!! The hike back up is not tough but gets the heart pumping as it’s moderate incline. We got some delicious potato salad from the food truck!

Completed June 5th, 2019. Beautiful day made this a beautiful hike! Hard to find parking at first, so utilize the shuttle if you can! The hike is a safer version of Angel’s Landing, since there wasn’t chains but still a harder hike to maneuver within crowds. The views at the end are definitely worth it!

Awesome drive, reminded me of Monument Valley, except this road was in way better condition! If you have 1 day in Capitol Reef, make sure to do this drive!

William Schultz reviewed Iao Needle Trail

Short “hike” to say the least! Completed in May, 2018 and while the views are great of the needle and the valley, it’s super easy! Go later in the day to avoid the tour bus crowds!

Awesome trail! Did this in May, 2018. Only problem is the views can be hindered by fog. Other than that, it was great! It wasn’t too muddy although it’s a higher elevation trail on a tropical island.

This is one of my favorite trails in the Vegas area! It’s way easier than Goldstrike Canyon but bring your water shoes so you can walk through the springs and onto the end!

The Mainland America “Road to Hana”. Get here super super early as the RV’s like to take their time, but who wouldn’t with the epic views!

Note: They’re closing this road for a few weeks in September to finalize preservation of this wonderful road.

Completed June 27th, 2019. We went to the 4th bridge due to all of the mud! Lots of crowds at the first 2 bridges, but lightens up after! The bridges are incredible to experience as they all give unique perspectives of a surreal canyon!

Completed June 26th, 2019. On our way to the Wabasso Campground, we strolled to these waterfalls. They are impressive, but almost every waterfall in the Jasper area is amazing right now due to the excess rainfall!

Completed June 27th, 2019. Weird trail! It says the “hard route” is to go to the right, but we found it easier! It was a muddy trail since Jasper has gotten tons of snow! We went to the Red Chairs, after going by 1-3 Lakes until we saw a family walking back from where they came fast! There was a grizzly with 3 cubs from what we could tell from far away. The lakes were all great, as they all seem to be in the Canadian Rockies!

Please, make tons of noise (no whistling and bells) and carry bear spray (either rent or buy). Sing your hearts out!

Completed June 24th, 2019. The trail is in great condition, the parking lot is not. Various pot holes so watch out! The view takes 15-20 minutes to get to, but it is one of the best that Canada can offer!

William Schultz reviewed Moraine Lake Rockpile Trail

Completed June 25th, 2019. We went around 7pm and still had to wait about 40-50 cars, but wow, absolutely stunning view no matter where on this “trail” you are. If you want peace and quiet, go around 6am according to the park rangers. You can’t take your car in from 7:30am-4pm, it gets THAT full.

William Schultz reviewed Johnston Canyon to Ink Pots

Completed June 25th, 2019. Another awesome hike in Banff! Parking was easy to find due to a huge lot, started at 3pm. We went to the Upper Falls as we already went to Yellowstone on our trip for the Ink Pots. The hike is great as it’s on the side of the canyon. The falls look great from every angle. Would love to come back in the winter and see people climb the frozen falls!

William Schultz reviewed Plain of the Six Glaciers Trail

Completed June 26th, 2019. One of our favorite hikes in the Canadian Rockies! We got to the parking lot at 7:45am and it was almost full!

The hike is super easy at the beginning due to it being the lakeshore hike but begins to gain elevation. It’s awesome how the valley opens up in the back while the glaciers become more and more impressive. We were scared at first due to the sound of thunder, but it was snowfall!

We had chili and chips at the beautiful tea house! Remember to bring CANADIAN CASH ONLY or there is a $6 extra charge for credit, with it showing up on your bill a few weeks later since they have no electricity.

The hike back was awesome as the Fairmont and the Lake are in your view virtually the whole time.

You could combine this with the Beehive and Lake Agnes!

William Schultz reviewed Avalanche Lake via the Trail of the Cedars

Completed June 18th. 2019. Super stunning hike with the creek at the beginning and the lake at the end. We did it at 9am but this was before Going to the Sun Road fully opened. It’s a pretty easy trail, would hardly say it’s moderate.

Did this back in April! More of just a quick stroll to a wonderful and unique view!

    William Schultz reviewed Skyline Trail

    Attempted June 29th, 2019.

Started at Maligne Lake. Trail is awful and sloppy. We got to the bridge at the Evelyn Creek, it was basically out. Crossing it was very tough as there’s no easy way on and off. Continued up to the switchbacks before a blizzard hit us and we turned back.

We were planning on staying at the Shovel Pass Lodge, but we didn’t and didn’t get a refund.

Canada Parks doesn’t have any reservations for their campgrounds yet as the trail is not recommended, they even tell you to bring an ice pick for the notch.

I bet it’s an unreal trail and we can’t wait to come back sometime to fully attempt. Just realize the weather in Jasper this whole summer has been awful and this trail gets more snow everyday!

William Schultz reviewed Great Glacier Trail

One of our favorite hikes! Starts very easy and simple by the Glacier House (read all of the signs, great history). The start of the hike is through a beautiful and not very muddy forest. The last mile is pure incline and it ends at the river. We brought Crocs along and took off our boots and socks. Go a little up the rocks and on the side to get some surreal views of the valley, the glacier and the raging waterfall. On your way back down, stop at the “Meeting of the Waters” to relax on some Parks Canada Red Chairs! The hike is also 4 miles round trip if you park in the campground where the designated parking is. Hiked 7/2/19

William Schultz reviewed Giant Cedars Boardwalk Trail

I would say this is more of an educational stroll, rather than a hike. Still, some stairs are there and they do have a handicap accessible 25km away. Great info on the Cedar trees, the rainforest and Revelstoke NP!

William Schultz reviewed Takakkaw Falls Trail

Very easy trail. The red chairs give a great view of the Falls. Lots of people near the falls but it gives a great view of the valley which you drive through.

Great hike to get into the nature and wildlife of Yoho without backcountry hiking! No tourists after the first quarter mile, either. Panoramic views of Emerald Lake. Very muddy when we went but it’s been raining a lot recently.
