Wendy Eash-Loucks reviewed Mount Constitution Loop - Orcas Island

The Mt. Constitution trail is very pretty but tough. We knew what the elevation gain was going to be when we started and got worried come mile two when it felt like we had not ascended at all. Well, you work for it at the end. It was tough but worth it. It is a little odd though to get to the summit of a mountain and be greeted by tons of people who drove to the top in the car...

Wallace Falls is a beautiful hike. That said, the weather never seems to be good there, at least for us. Fog the first time, rain/slush/hail the second time, we finally got to see all of the falls the third time but it drizzled and thundered the whole time. Maybe it is just or bad luck. Either way it is a great trail to explore.

Great hike. Do yourself a favor though and stretch it out to complete Gem Lake as well. It's a long day but the views are amazing!

Little Si, as the name implies, is an easier version of Mt. Si. That said, I really think the views are way better on Little Si. It's not the most exciting trail in the area but for a fairly short day hike that is close to the city, it is a good bet!

We loved this hike! My husband, dog, and I tried to complete it the first time in late June and didn't reach the summit because there was a lot of snow that we were not prepared for (we relocated to WA from FL so we are still figuring out this snow thing). There is no snow now and we made it to the top. It was foggy, so the views were not great, but we know from our previous accent that the views can be amazing when there are clear skies. We have a lot more to see in the area but I know we will be back!

I have been waiting to do this hike since we moved here in June but was worried about the really bad bugs and heat. We finally tackled it today and it was well worth it!

The weather was great but I can see how it might become too much in the summer with the exposed hike for the first few miles and the sun beating down, but today it was lovely.

The hike to snow lake was not bad at all. Rocky, but not hard. We headed up to gem lake after that which was a more challenging hike. There was snow on the ground in some places but most of it had melted and turned to mud.

Overall it was a beautiful hike but make sure you bring lots of water especially if you are going in the summer.
