Fun and challenging trail. I did this with my seventeen year old son and his sixteen year cousin.
A lot of the trail is a long scramble over rocks under which the creek between Cadillac and Door mountains runs. It is shaded for the most part, but the elevation change and very rocky path make it a fun challenge. The last yards turn from the creek area to scale Cadillac Mountain. Some of the trail here requires all four limbs to traverse but soon one arrives at the top of Cadillac Mountain and it's breathtaking views. This is not a kid or pet friendly trail, but a very fun one for teens and adults.

Great gentle trail at less than a mile (out and back) with forrest cover the entire way. Wear your flip-flops or bring the grand parents as this paved path has no elevation gain to speak of. The viewing platform at the end opens up a spectacular vista over the valley across to the mountains of Shenandoah National Park. The day we were there featured a large gathering of hawks riding the thermals in front of us. Our kids (4 and 2 1/2) loved it, particularly the rock piles that dot the trail and are easy climbs for kids to scramble around. This is a great little trail if you are into views or have young kids you want to get enthused about being outdoors.

Very pleasantly surprised. Nice little trail with frequent elevation changes and almost all under shade. The payoff is a viewing platform with a spectacular 270 degree field of view.
Rocky on some parts and this could be a good ankle twister - I’d wear boots next time as opposed to hiking shoes.
My four year old did it under her own steam and my almost three with some portage. Good trail for families as it is not too long and enough twists and turns and ups and downs to keep the trek varied.

Great short hike for families and young children. We've taken our kids here twice over two years - first year both in backpacks. This year our four year old hiked down and up on her own stream and our almost three year old hiked down herself and back up on my back. Most of the hike is next to the stream and there are a couple of gentle places for young kids to get in and get their feet wet. The bottom of the main falls has a nice pool which can be entered but I'd make sure an adult went with kids as the falls are right there and the rocks are slick. Bonus yesterday, we watched a barn owl perched about thirty feet away from us as he moved around over the course of fifteen minutes. Our kids love this hike.

Great family hike. We have done this a couple of times with two young daughters in backpacks and when they were a little older our three year old walking most of the way. Gentle incline. Bring a picnic lunch. The top has great views from the rocky pile.

Awesome. Most inspiring, impressive, risky, spectacular view, trail I have hiked. It is only risky if you don’t take your time, do dumb things, or wear inappropriate footwear. I don’t know what I can add to the thousands of five star reviews but it is truly a memorable and taxing hike to the top. On the day I ascended I was one of the only people I saw with gray in his beard and hair! It is strenuous but worth the hike/climb. I did this with my son when he was 16 or 17 years old and it is still one of our most memorable experiences. Highly recommended, although if you have a fear of heights you may want to avoid this one. it really is safe with a chain guide on posts in all the appropriate places. But, the drop off is straight down at about 1000 feet on either side of the ridge you where you spend the most taxing time of the hike. View from the top down the valley awe inspiring! This is one you’ll want to tell everyone about.

Paved loop around a reservoir. First 1/4 mile is up to reach the loop. Paved trail. No tree cover, so can be brutal on hot days. Nice, pleasant walk we have taken with our kids. Good family walk as is stroller friendly.

This is known as the Twin Valley Trail locally and by the Park. Very nice trail with modest elevation changes, a couple of creek crossings, and some nice views. Great family hike. My wife and I have done it with a two and a half year old and one year old strapped to our backs. Our now four year old had walked most of it on her own two feet. Most of it is under tree cover so a good hot weather hike.
Plus, you get the Arc monument, so an interesting bit of history/geography thrown in.

Great family trail! Our four and two and a half year olds did pretty well (though the young one spent about half the return trip on my back). Water crossings are fine if parents are there to help. Scenery is beautiful and pools at the end are a lot of fun. Parking is tough; we waited about ten minutes for someone to leave before getting a spot.-and we didn’t get there until mid afternoon. A great hike!

Very nice moderate hike with wonderful views. Fun trail, with lots of rock to scramble up. Not too difficult that my wife and I could't carry our daughters up in our kid carrier back packs (though they both got out for some portions to go at the trail themselves). The views at the top really are spectacular.
