Definitely one of the most difficult hikes I’ve done. I live in a place that’s pretty close to sea level so the 8-10 thousand foot altitude kicked my butt. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen if the sun is out because there’s literally no shade. The weather is a bit unpredictable - I went from cold to warm to cold to cold and wet so bring some layers. The trek back up is pretty steep and it’s quite long. I was BEAT. I would recommend this hike for intermediate to advanced hikers who have 4-5 hours to spend (I took 5 hours including frequent stops for pictures). The geography is pretty incredible and unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. It’s worth the effort!

Great hike but definitely *not* 5.7 miles round trip. More like 8.5. It's a tough hike but the view at top is outstanding. We were pretty wiped after this hike. Recommend poles.

Probably my favorite trail I've hiked. It's not the toughest or longest hike but it's definitely the most scenic. Sweeping vistas, stunning view of Rainier, alpine lakes, wildflower meadows...this hike has it all. Bring bug spray if you're hiking in the summer and plan to spend about 45 minutes on the drive up (lots of potholes).

This trail is a butt-kicker. Definitely spend the extra mile to see Bridal Veil Falls but do it on the way to Lake Serene otherwise you might be too tired on the way back. The first two miles are pretty simple but the last 1.5 is tough - the trail at that point is essentially all rocks and incline. The lake is absolutely worth it, though. I'd recommend shoes with ankle support.

Went on a cloudy day and got caught in a little rain on the way back. Beautiful hike. The clouds made it seem otherworldly at times. The mountain pass before the "katwalk" is stunning. Took our small dog and she did really well. Definitely a long hike; I'd say expect to spend 5-6 hours if you're going at a moderate pace and stop to eat. Recommend boots with ankle support.
