Vicky Salinas reviewed English Point Red Loop Trail

This short easy Trail is great for families, kids, and dogs. Lots of shade, and the wild flowers are blooming. There are several benches along the trail, an Overlook with a peak of Hayden Lake, and a beautiful little Boardwalk to cross. If you take your dog be sure to bring doggie bags and pack out their business

As of last weekend the road to Trailhead is still snowed in. A person could hike to the trailhead it's only one mile up the road. We did not hike it because did not have cleats and snow was too slippery. We ended up going to Settlers Grove near Murray Idaho.

Did this trail on May 14th. beautiful drive of the Coeur D'alene River taking Thompson Falls pass to Murray. Turn off was a few miles before the town of Murray. The road up was very narrow with quite a few potholes and a little snow towards the end before the parking lot. Be careful because part of the road was washed out but still possible. The road follows the creek all the way up to the parking lot. That in itself was a beautiful sight to see rushing with the winter run off! It is a very easy family friendly 3.3 round trip flat trail. The trail follows a beautiful Creek over running the trail at times but there are makeshift foot bridges of logs and rocks. you will also Passover three beautiful wood bridges wandering through the ancient Grove of Cedars. The trail was closed the past few years due to a fire in 2013, reopening in 2017 with lots of new growth on the forest floor. Although many of the seeders have Fallin or have been charged by the fire, it is still a magnificent, magical place to visit!

Trailhead starts a few miles out of Post Falls as Spokane Street turns into Riverview Drive take a right on West Riverview Drive go approximately 2 miles to the trailhead on the right. It sneaks up on you so be sure when you see the 20 mile-an-hour curve sign to slow down it's right after these curves. the trail is a gently downhill dirt road that wind's back and forth through the forest and beautiful open areas. this is a great time to go as there are many spring wildflowers blossoming along the trail! You will pass over a small little runoff creek as the trail winds downhill. After about a mile or mile and a half you will come to the Spokane River. there are many off trails you can take to explore the area or you can wind back around to the left on the lower trail that will eventually go up and lead you back to the main road to the parking lot. parking lot has 10 to 12 parking spaces including a handicap space next to the restrooms. Overall this is a great family trail. It only took an hour and a half round trip. you could stretch it out by having a picnic lunch down by the river. There are a few small beach areas, or large rock areas along the river to sit and enjoy the fantastic views. A great trail to take your dog for a nice leisurely walk. no poop bags provided so be sure to bring your own doggy bag to help keep the trail pristine.

Northrup Canyon is a spectacular hike! absolutely love this easy 3-mile round-trip hike to the homestead and back. the trailhead is easy to find, just a few miles west of Electric City . You will follow a well-maintained trail down through the beautiful rock canyon. We saw several bald eagles soaring above the cliffs as we walked through the Canyon. There was a little flooding on the trail about halfway before the homestead but nothing you couldn't scurry around. Soon you will be closer to the creek and there'll be a wooden Footbridge. We climbed on top I have a large rock to the right to see if we could see the homestead yet. To all right hidden out of sight we found another treasure! Reminents of an old broken down corral and the remainder of a beautiful old rusted out turquoise car. Getting back onto the trail we continued and soon saw the trail was flooded and unpassible. Lucky for us somebody had made an arrow out of rocks to show a detour to the left. The detour trail continued along the bottom of the rocky cliffside leading right to the Old Homestead. We ate lunch at the picnic table and spent an hour just exploring the area.

Snowshoed a few weeks ago. Round Lake Snow Shoe Trail is great place to go snowshoeing. Easily accessible trail, lots of parking, and the trail itself was well-marked. You see a little bit of everything along this trail, the lake, the creek, crossing over several wooden bridges, and snow covered trees through the woods. overall a fairly easy trail with a few moderate switchbacks.

Cloudy windy day at Blue Creek Trail yesterday, but still beautiful with 4 inches of fresh powder snow. Parking lot was not plowed but still accessible. Except for the first little jaunt uphill the trail is fairly easy switchbacks up to a lollipop Loop. At the beginning of the trail you get a glimpse of Blue Creek Bay. most of the trail is through snow-covered woods. About halfway along the trail there is a bench and a old corral. Trail is very well-marked , we followed the blue markers all the way. Trail is about 2.7 miles long

Love this Trail. If you want just a short Loop when you get to the bridge cross it and hike about a mile and a half along the creek. then where the trail forks take the trail to the left and follow the creek back on the other side. should take about an hour. approximately 5 miles round trip from the first parking lot. this part of the hike is easy not much elevation.

hike to lower Stevens Lake September 23rd 2017. beautiful hike lots of different terrain along the way. Trail starts on an old road, then goes into shady switchbacks following a creek most of the way. There are two areas of rock slides where you really need to watch your footing. Hiking boots recommended. You might see the cute little pikas in the rocks. The trail is a steady uphill climb but the lake at the top is worth the climb! we had the whole lake to ourselves! There was a tiny bit of snow on the trail as you head into the lake. And a dusting of snow on the mountain side with fall colors showing through. The lake was beautiful, clean and clear.

Nice easy hike. Trails were great, mostly shady, with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. About halfway we up came upon a beautiful little waterfall. We were the only ones on the trail and and the lake at the top was crystal clear. We had the whole lake to ourselves. We enjoyed our lunch, and took some beautiful photos. The fall colors we're starting to show along the rocky hillside.
