There's an off-trail somewhere between 4-4.5 miles up that's pretty easy to miss due to some overgrowth, stay diligent with tracking your location. That trail actually takes you to the top. Otherwise, the hike is very mellow and only gains around 500ft/mile and is very well shaded. You'll meet plenty of doggos along the way so if you're one of those people who sneer whenever other people have the audacity to have dogs, maybe try a different trail.

This beta is really off. Elevation is about perfect but it's closer to 6miles round trip door-to-door. There's a small chain-link gate near where you should park, and a short jaunt near the golf course to get there. There's a couple gnarly steep sections - a total scree and loose rock fest closer to the beginning, and the very top is chock full of soft dirt and relentless pitch. We normally have a pretty brisk hiking pace (like 30minute miles on intense trails,) but we finished with an average of 46minute miles for this freaking hike. I'm glad we did it, since we have to look at it every day, but I will gladly never do it again. Beautiful views at the top though, no doubt.

Hiking poles HIGHLY recommended and if you bring a dog, make sure it has good discipline to not tempt the ridge too much - ours do not, so we had to have them leashed to us and it slowed things down considerably on the way down to their pulling. Total RT was just under 4.5 hours, pretty bad.

Really nice hike. Plenty of trees and very quiet. Didn't see anyone until coming down and that was pretty late in the morning (10-11am). I would recommend at least not stopping at where the trail tells you to and getting up near the ski lift. We started climbing the cliffs themselves but didn't feel too confident in the lines we investigated, mixed with the exposure. Just be aware to actually summit the cliffs will likely require a class 3/4 scramble.

Lovely hike. Still plenty of snow coverage in certain areas, a little bit of creativity is required if you're trying to stick to the trail proper. Baldy is still looking pretty snow from the SE side, better to approach it from the NE I'd wager.

Pleasant and easy. The river is still running pretty high on the northern side of the trail (either the start or the end depending on your direction). Luckily that was near the end. Big markdowns for the number of motocross on the trail. Also, a healthy amount of people near the trailhead, though the trail itself was mostly quiet.

This is a nice trail. Lots of options on the trail, pretty good views of the west face of Timp. Mellow ascent overall after the first bit. The trail down to the spring/river itself was a bit underwhelming but this was a lovely hike.

Very mellow, decently shaded. Nice because it was rather quiet, but not a whole lot to see and it ends pretty quickly. Looks like there's opportunity to continue in other directions at the top.

Beautiful, pretty mellow and well-shaded. Better as a "forested" hike rather than one with very dramatic views.

Nice, relatively tough trail. A few things to note as of 9/4,

    - Saw an extremely large full-grown Bull Moose near the apex of the hike, on the back side. We were within 30 feet of it and was watching us intently. We instantly turned around and went back down our approach, unfortunately.
    - Autumn colors are very prevalent.
    - If you're heading East up Slate Canyon (vs north towards Side Canyon) about 3 miles in there will be an unmarked split path, go to the left to continue with the loop. If you reach a campground and a rather steep pitch you're on the right track.
