Two Lanes Of Freedom reviewed Pinos River Trail to Emerald Lake

We hiked a little more than 4 miles in and found a nice lunch spot on the river. You will hike for a good 2 mile before the trail is beside the creek. We saw a couple deer and only passed three other hikers. Great day to be among the changing Aspen leaves.

Loved this hike along the river. The water was so clear. We had the trail to ourselves and found a nice spot close to the first bridge where we stopped for lunch and dipped our toes in the water. There are good sized rocks and small boulders on most of the trail, so I would suggest good ankle supported boots. We turned around at the first bridge (3+ miles), which made a great day hike. Stopped at the Rusty Shovel on the way out for a brew. :-)

This is a nice hike with minimal incline. The trail isn't marked and there are places where you can easily turn the wrong way. You are exposed on the ridge for over a mile and we were greeted with a nice little rain/wind/hail/thunder storm and bolted off the ridge to a gully. It only lasted 5 or 10 minutes, but just enough to cause things to get a bit muddy. The soil up there is clay, so our boots took on a good extra 5 pounds. The views were awesome. We took the trail to the right and climbed up to the rocky outcroppings for lunch. It looked like the trail at one time went further past the outcroppings, but a number of trees are down and would require a bit of bushwacking so we turned around from there and headed back. Total round trip was a little less than 6 miles.

The Ocoee river and the Cherokee forest around it can make for a wonderful day in the woods. We hiked the Bear Paw loop, but also added in the River view loop. For a total of about 7 miles. Both trails offered meandering paths and some incline. I think I would have enjoyed it more on a bike. There wasn't any "oh wow" places and the River View loop lacked it's name sake. We could hear it though :-)

Great time of year to see the forest. We took the loop to the right at the fork and would recommend it this way. There is a nice lunch spot when you cross Flatt creek.

This is the perfect time of year to enjoy this hike. You can see through the forest of naked trees and soak in the true contour of the mountain ravines, ridges and rises. We took the lollipop loop to the right and would recommend that direction. There are quite a few creek and stream crossings that make lovely spots for lunch or just to sit, reflect and inhale. After the hike we kept driving down towards the Toccoa River and enjoyed a refreshing brew and apps at Toccoa Riverside. A day well lived.

Wonderful hike with the fall Aspens in bloom. The trail head is a bit further up the forest service road than the marker indicates. The lake was crystal clear and we were the only ones there.

You can't beat the view from the top, but you'll have to work for it. In July/August you should be on the trail by 6:30 in the morning in order to make the summit and get down below the tree line before the afternoon thunderstorms.

Beautiful trail along the lake. Mile markers to keep you on track and the half way point being Dauset Nature center was such a treat. Wish we left earlier so we have enjoyed walking around Dauset more before the three miles back.

Nice hike up and it is all up. We were hoping we would climb above the clouds, but not this time. We still enjoyed the summit, even though the fog robbed us of the magnificent views. There are a couple creek crossings where the log bridges were rotten or broken and almost all of the log walk ways through the muddy areas were rotten. The trail could use a little love in places.

Great trail, but the fog kept us away from the views.
