I hiked this trail as a 2 day backpacking trip. I hiked 16 from berryman to brazil creek, then 8 from brazil back to berryman. All around a nice trail, great trail to put your face in and go. A little lacking in features, but a nice long meandering walk through the woods. Suprisingly few hills, with lots of switchbacks none of them were overly demanding. Equestrian use is obvious in several places, and the trail has been damadged in a few places, but reroutes around this has improved conditions. This trail looks to be great for mountain biking.

Labarque creek trail is a great short hike. There is a lot of stuff to see if you explore a little. Many nice small bluffs, water falls and rock formations. Very pretty area.

Charles Mcdonald reviewed The Ozark Trail: Marble Creek Section

This is a nice walk through the woods, with a few obscured views of the hills nearby. It may have been better in the spring when some of the creek beds were flowing. This hike definitely has a remote feel to it. Like most of the OT it has rocky, rough terrain. The nearby marble creek campgrounds are a good place to camp. The crane lake trail connects to this section of the Ozark Trail at the opposite end from the marble creek campground.

Nice trail. Beautiful creek and natural bridge. look for a large stack of rocks in the middle of the creek. Great summer water hole for a family.

Good walk through the woods, but it was lacking in comparison to the pickle creek and whispering pines trails. It is a nice walk through the woods though.

Meramec State park has every camping option from numerous backpacking sites to full cabins, electric sites-every camping option here. A good variety of trails to hike too. river view and bluff trails are two good short scenic trails, and the wilderness trail offers a 10 mile option for the hiker or backpackers. Great visitors center, with the short natural wonders trail nearby. They also rent canoes and rafts for floating the meramec nearby.

Charles Mcdonald reviewed Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park Trail

Johnson shut-ins actually has 3 trails. The Ozark trail goes through a large section of the park as well. The Scour trail is an amazing place to hike through, read about the damn breach that left this 3 mile long 100 yard wide 15ft deep scar on the earth. The shut-ins trail is also well worth the walk at 2 miles. Goggins trail (10 miles) is a good long walk through the wooded areas of the park. there is a small spur that leads to the Ozark trail and a nice view where the spur connects with the goggins trail. There are many many different options here for hikes of 15 miles or more, or hikes of 2 miles or less-Easy to Difficult terrain as well. Excellent park, busy in the summer months, but well worth a visit.

This trail has been lengthened by approximately 4.5 miles. If you like long walks through the woods, this is a great trail. Non of the hills were overly steep, and were well graded, with plenty of switchbacks. This trail recieves a moderate rating in difficulty as none of the terrain was overly difficult, but the length of this trail makes it more difficult than moderate. This trail would make a great bike ride. GORC was actually there working on the trail when I hiked this.

All of hawns trails are very nice. The entire trail system is very well marked, and is quite easy to follow, but the terrain can be challenging in places. The pickle creek trail is especially nice along with the north and south loop of the whispering pines trail. Expect rough/rocky terrain for pickle creek and the north loop of whispering pines. The white oaks loop is less rocky, and it may have been better in spring or summer when the flora was in bloom. Hawn offers alot of options for every skill level. Highly recommend this trail system to anyone.

Great trail, beautifully maintained, great views, enchanting creeks, tall pine groves, rock formations, challenging terrain. Whispering pines is just an all around awsome trail. The south loop is worth the walk.

Charles Mcdonald reviewed Green's Cave Bushwhack: Hamilton Hollow Route Trail

One of my top 5 in the state. Caves, springs, old homesteads, vistas of the meramec river. Greens cave and bluff are the highlights of this hike. Greens cave with its 124ft enterance-is breathe taking. There is no designated trail to any of this, if you are not comfortable with land navigation, don't try it.

Charles Mcdonald reviewed Bell Mountain Wilderness Area Trail

I have hiked the full 12 mile loop from hwy A trailhead and back, Great hike. The view from the top of bell mountain is gorgeous, and is well worth the trek from hwy A. Very rocky/muddy in some places, and the uphill from hwy A will have the less energetic huffing and puffing, but well worth it for the view. Shut-in creek is a fun place to visit after a good rain, if you don't mind scrambling down a steep grade with boulders to get to it. look for the old mine addit around shut-in creek.
