Tony Schmitz reviewed Theodore Payne Foundation: Theodore Payne Trail

The first 0.3 mile the trail has been turned into a gully by rain, steep exposed rock scramble up and a careful pick-your-way-down. If you're looking for views, there are many more attractive trails around LA area. This one might be better in spring with the possibility of wildflowers.

Previous comments about restrooms and parking are accurate! On a Labor Day weekend Saturday we had to park nearly a mile downhill from Chantry Flats. And beware, you need a parking permit anywhere on that highway. $100 fine. Otherwise a beautiful hike in a shady canyon. That half mile you walk down from Chantry is a killer on the way back out.

Tony Schmitz reviewed Beechwood Trail to Hollywood Sign

If you approach up the Beachwood Canyon entrance, there is no parking on the weekend on the streets for about 3/4 mile leading up to the trailhead. Agressively enforced! The trail itself is wide and well traveled, pretty gradual incline. Lots of people coming from other trails in the park. Upper half of the trail is blacktop. Great views of both Hollywood and the Valley and of course the iconic sign.
