Tina Kopp reviewed Finch Lake from Allenspark Trailhead

We went on this hike Saturday. We started from the Allenspark trialhead, you can by pass the parking fees at RMNP. The first 1.8 miles is a steady climb with a couple of steep inclines, the forest is lush and dense and not a lot of scenery. At the junction you can go to the Wild Basin Station, Calypso Falls or continue onto to Finch and Pear lake. We continued into Finch Lake, the trail does level out in some places and in others you will have more steep inclines. The final push to Finch Lake will have you dropping several hundred feet before you reach the lake and then nestled in the trees is the lake, so peaceful and serene. There were only a handle of people at the lake and we had most of trail to ourselves.
It was a beautiful day with no clouds in the sky we just sat back and listened to the sounds of nature. We didn't allow time to attempt Pear Lake, that will be next time.

Decent tail steep in a few places, wildflowers were just starting to bloom. Alot of people heading up, I took it slow and easy. Saw some several deer, and an Osprey in flight.

This was a great hike, we did this one 5 days ago. We got to the Bear Lake parking lot, still had plenty of parking available, but it was windy, we almost didn't do the hike, so glad we did. Once we were in the trees there was little wind, however, the higher we climbed and the closer we got to the lake the wind was stonger. We took our time getting up there due to photo opportunities, there were icicles forming along the north side of the lake, it was so beautiful.

A great hike, the first 1.5 miles is mostly uphill, you will cross over the Colorado a trail and then after that the trail levels out somewhat. The only drawback I guess one could say is all the horse shit on the trail. Once you get to the falls though, it is beautiful.

Pretty easy hike once you've made it up the pass. The road has gotten bumpier the last couple of years, still once you've made it, the view is well worth the drive

The trail has a steady incline, as your first starting out there are great views of the valley, however, soon you are surrounded by trees, it flattens out in some areas but not for long. The last 1\2 mile is pretty steep, trekking poles really come in handy and then you drop down to the lake! The view and hike is beautiful. Kick back, relax eat some grub and enjoy the views!!!!

A great hike, challenging in some areas, but I wouldn't say that it was difficult, then again we only hiked to Finch Lake.

It's an ok hike, got there early. Not to many people at the time. The trail isn't well maked, the waterfall wasn't much of a waterfall, too many inconsiderate people talking loudly, playing their music too loud, and what's up with the bagged dog poop, there is not a magical fairy who swoops down to pick up your dog's shit, pack it in pack it out, if your are to lazy to do that then leave your dog at home.

Beautiful hike! We hiked this on July 4 th, we arrived at the parking lot around 7:30, the gate beyond Brainard Lake was still closed. So we hiked around the north side of Brainard lake, then onto Long Lake took the Jean Lunning trail sound theSouth side and then onto Lake Isabel. We had to hike across a big snowfield before we were able to reach the lake, the bow was spectacular!!
