Tim Downey reviewed Lovell Gulch Trail

Getting snow-packed in shady areas, with occasional ice. I didn’t need microspikes.....which is good since I didn’t have them with me.

Not at all crowded this morning. My dog and I saw seven people and nine dogs.....all friendly.

In the summer, this trail is best done early in the morning. The sun can be baking later in the day.

Great views. Saw less than ten people on a weekday. Not difficult at all for this 60+ guy in only fair shape. The dog liked it, too.

A couple icy stretches, but not enough to put on the micro-spikes.

Nice trail, southwest Colorado Springs, in Cheyenne Mountain State Park.

I hike here regularly as it's a short hop from my house. I go in the early morning, and rarely see more than one or two hikers/bikers.

The east part of Sundance is in open ground, then in and out of pine, fir, Gambel Oak.

Toward the top part of Talon, there are North and South loops you can take.

Deer are common, and black bear and mountain lions live here, too.
