This trail is a little misleading. The falls are literally .2 miles from the trailhead, but there are several trails that go down into the valley and this one does in fact end up looping back to the same point if you follow this app a bit. There is some decent elevation involved as well as crossing the sweet water river a few times if you decide to do the whole 5-6 mile loop. Bring plenty of water, make sure you have good trail shoes or boots and plenty of food before you make the trip!

BUY YOUR PERMIT AHEAD OF TIME! ($5) This was a cool hike, I can't lie the downhill way there is really casual, but the hike back up gets old quick at a pretty descent grade. The falls are really cool, there was a lady with a dog there playing fetch into the pool. Go after a nice rain, and PLEASE don't be the douche bag blaring Bruno Mars from a Bluetooth speaker. Use headphones...some people are there to hear nature not your taste in music

This trail was pretty cool. Not too long, not too short. Just about 5 miles round trip. Surprisingly, there was a ton of water in the falls this time of year - I figured with the recent heat wave it would have dried up but I was pleasantly surprised. The last 1/10 of a mile down to the falls is a bit more rugged, but not too bad at all. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Spring time had some nice blooms as well. I'll be back after another big rain storm!

I went with my buddy and this was literally the toughest trail in San Diego. We also did the hike in 40 degree rainy weather. At a point, there is no trail - you break off the old dirt trail and head down into the forest following small yellow tape on random branches and man made rock formations to guide you through the madness. Bring tons of water and be physically fit. Hell, a machete could go a long way! Good luck
