Easy trail with spectacular canyon views...best to hike on sunny late afternoons when lengthening shadows can make these views even more impressive.

Can be challenging at times but offers up close and personal views of the red cliffs,

A nice 40-45 diversion to unwind right in the Las Vegas Valley. Very dog- and horse-friendly.

Did this trail in Sept. 1986. Lots of switchbacks but spectacular view once at the top...no smog at lower elevations on the day of the hike. So much energy burned though that despite having energy bars and plenty of water on the trail, I still came out hungry after having two In-N-Out double-doubles and a large Diet Coke for a celebration meal.

Conquered this trail in a day hike in Apr. 1985. Good thing this was done on a clear, sunny day because at the top I was rewarded with a spectacular view of the desert floor surrounding Palm Springs to the east and of the Inland Empire to the west.

Got within two miles of the summit when attempting a day hike under clear, sunny skies in Sept. 1989 to get to the top but had to turn around when I hit ice at 13,000 feet. Still a great experience...just considering now that now a lottery system is used to determine who can use the trail and when (back then all you needed to do was go to the ranger station in Lone Pine for a day-use permit on the day of use itself). Hit lots of verbal support from fellow trail users as well.

Drove it twice...interesting that it is a one-way road...for driving only, it is best to drive it on a late afternoon one to two hours before sundown. Many trailheads along the way.

Nice paved trail to try out, especially if you're a resident of the affluent Seven Hills subdivision. It's best to try it out this time of year in the early evening hours before sunset. Dog friendly as well.

Hiked the trail twice...in 2002 and again in 2004...so convenient to I-84 and the Portland metro...very picturesque waterfalls.

Nice, relaxing network of trails...not something one would associate with Las Vegas, but scenery and wildlife can be found at this park.
