PLEASE READ AND DON'T BE ALARMED! :)

I couldn't help myself, the last review was a little dramatic, to say the least.

Hunt Lake is an "easy" hike in for an alpine lake. I've backpacked this spot four times now and I love it. The road is a little rough and you do need a truck or jeep to get up the last mile of washed out road.

The trail in is hard to follow as people have created multiple trails over the mix of bouldering and dirt trails. When you start out the more trail version to the lake is more north of the boulders and the "red dot" trail is right through the middle. If you do follow the red dots on the rocks be sure to head a little north when you reach the incline as the trail takes you up. I'm not sure the last review by Joshua might have been because he got lost and off trail. It really isn't that hard. I see kids out there all the time and we had a 13-year-old with us on this trip who loved it.

    REAL-TIME REVIEW:

We camped Friday and Saturday. The wind was bad Friday night but not Saturday. Saturday night was clear and the stars were amazing but it was cold at night and there was frost in the AM.

At this point, I think it could snow up there anytime. I've gone in October and woke up to snow.

Take a real axe if you want to have a fire as all the small stuff has been picked over. Good fishing but only really at Golden hour.

    Have fun and be safe!

Hiked in on Saturday last week and stayed at the lake two nights. We though Sat would be busy but actually, we had the place mostly to ourselves!

We camped on the top of the rock hill on the east side of the lake. That is a great spot unless you like to have water close to camp.

The bugs were pretty bad I guess. I'm never one to complain about bugs but they were persistent for sure. The mosquitos were kinda nonaggressive but there was a lot of them.

This hike and lake are SO beautiful it's just fantastic no matter what.

This was my second time up to granite lake. I’m so grateful this place isn’t well know yet.

It can be a bit tricky getting there with the river crossings but it is truly one of the most beautiful Alpine Lakes in the entire Northwest.

If anyone gets the chance to bring a machete the last mile is covered in overgrowth.

    Have fun!!

Ok three of us backpacked in after three days in Glacier. It definitely is a good uphill trail but so beautiful! One thing that I didn't notice in the comments is how the goat hang around at night. That could just be because the weekend crowd gave them a lot of reasons to come into camp (pee) or they are around most of the time.

Just be aware if you stay the night they will come into your camp after anything salty.

All and all I think this is my favorite alpine lake yet. Short but gorgeous hike, waterfalls, and magnificent rock shelves. Get out there!

This isn't what I'd call an "easy" hike. Especially if you are backpacking. It's more moderate in my mind.

Hike in was totally beautiful with all the flowers blooming! Now I know why they call it blossom lake.

Went in on 4th of July weekend so it was pretty busy. All the campsites were full. Met some good people and did have a good time.

    A few notes:
    * More trash than I'm used to seeing at mountain lakes. Please keep our lakes clean!
    * A few of the camps sites need some work for tents sits. Bring in a shovel if you get a chance and help level some of the pads.

There are a few switchbacks on the way up. Right is longer with less incline. Left is shorter and steeper.

    See you guys out there!

This is a great local spot! Close to Cd'A and Sandpoint with EPIC lake views.

It's an easy 2 downhill miles in and they 2 miles up on the way out.

There are about 3/4 camp spots with 2/3 firepits. Not a lot of wood for burning unless you bring a good axe.

    Highly recommend this spot!
