This is almost exclusively a biking trail. We hiked it counter to the bike flow, which I strongly recommend. It requires keeping an eye out for bikers and being ready to step aside, but better than always looking over your shoulder. We enjoyed getting a better sense of the biking experience which we hadn’t seen before, but it doesn’t make for a peaceful communing with nature. We cut the loop in half to total ten miles of hiking and involved a 1/3 mike walk on the side of the road (not a problem, wide shoulders) to get to the other side of the loop. It was a nice leisurely end to our week of more strenuous hiking but there are definitely other exclusively hiking trails around the area that will rock your socks more than this one.

This hike was a fun, private hike right down the road from the the heavily trafficked zoo-y Corona Arch trail. Head through the culvert to get to the marked trail head and the loop trail goes right through Jeep Arch. We did the loop clockwise.

This was a fantastic hike on a beautiful early April weekday that started cool and then warmed up to high 60’s. We did the full out and back to the White Rim trail intersection point in 7 hours at a leisurely pace with lots of stops for pictures and lunch at the White Rim trail (3 hours down, 4 up). That’s a great spot for lunch with views down to the base of the canyon. The trail has spectacular views end to end, with lots of changing scenery. Although the descent/ascent is steep, it’s not technical. You have to be comfortable with wondering how the heck you’re going to descend the face but it was never dicey. We only saw two groups of hikers on the return and otherwise had the whole canyon to ourselves.

This trail was a spectacular with great views and a combination of hiking on a wide sandy trail and some scrambling over rock. That included a couple dicey spots that folks with fear of heights found “interesting”.

Fantastic hike on Easter Sunday with temperatures in low seventies. Definitely not for those afraid of heights. When you get to the rim it’s hard to believe you can hike down to the wash. A ton of fun. We did the loop clockwise, which worked for us as you gain part of the elevation halfway through the loop. A little confusing when white rim trail forks off. GPS feature works great.
