How fun to find this trail so close to town. Loved running to the upper fall and letting the crowd at the bottom thin out. Once back at the bottom I was able to bask in the beauty of the fall.

Easy walk without elevation gain. Lots of dogs and people along the trail as well as bicycle riders. Veer off trail to the Nature Center and learn about the surrounding vegetation. Also fun to watch the turtles in the channel.

You're already there. Do it. I think this trail has the best lower tent rocks in what I consider a village area full of these smaller hoodoos. Super easy and beats heading back to the parking lot along the exact same trail.

Second time to hike this trail. Love seeing and visiting with people from all over the U.S. and other countries. Took more time to enjoy the views and survey the slot for the best light. Moral of this story is slow down and enjoy!

More walk than trail. With time to kill, we walked up from the plaza. I was not wearing hiking clothes (dress and sandals) and easily managed the walk. The view from the top, looking over the city, is amazing. We were there in the fall so the colors changing was a bonus. The easier walk is from the parking lot but you miss the "historic markers". Great little piece of history.

Reservations at the lodge. Permit needed?

Lots of ups and downs and a few places the water crosses the trail (yes I was there after a rain storm). Not difficult but some of the ups can be a challenge for a flat lander.

Easy trail putting you among the goblins. Like making pictures in the clouds, you can imagine all the different goblins that reside along the trail. Watch out for the wind as it can lift the sand and fill your eyes with dirt. Maybe the goblins are unhappy with all the visitors?

Easy trail that climbs and loops to both windows. Meet the ranger just off the parking lot for a great guided tour. They talk about how the arches were formed and the plant life along the trails.

Easy trail. It does climb and has a few points where the trail is quite narrow. The view of the Delicate Arch is the payoff. Arrive early and watch the sunrise through the arch and avoid the biggest crowds. There is a lot of discrepancies regarding trail length. Some say the trail is 3 miles while others say 4 miles round trip. Which ever it is, it's a great walk in the park.

Durango is lucky to have this beautiful river trail. The river makes a nice running/walking companion. The "trail" is used by many, mostly those out for a stroll. Keep an eye out for the bike riders.

Easy access from the highway. Easy access to the upper falls. We met many people walking up and down the trail with basic walking shoes aka not hiking boots. Boots aren't necessary on this trail, just smart. The view from the top, especially with the leaves changing colors, is fabulous. Definitely a gate way hike for beginners.

Nice easy trail but a bit boring. The lake is very low but from a fitness standpoint it's good.

One of my favorites in the area. The views are great! Lots of rock on both sides of the mountain. Be sure to set up you shuttle unless you are going up and over both ways. It's fun to go right after a storm because all the springs are running.

Amazing hole! Wishing I'd had more time to go to the bottom. We hiked around the rim and enjoyed the views. The trail is very sandy and it's full of devil's claws. Be prepared to go over a barbed wire fence to complete the loop. In places, the trail disappears completely. The brush isn't terribly thick so it's easy to work your way toward the start point. Start early because it gets hot fast!

Easy trail. Nice to look at the flows without having to get off trail. Lava is hard on boots! Watch for mountain lions. There were a couple of sightings shortly before we arrived.

How I wish I could write on paper the way these people wrote on the rock. Such a great piece of history. Be sure to watch the video before you hit the trail. The trail itself is beautifully paved and very easy. It was late so we didn't go to the top but from talking to others that did it was only a small structure so we didn't feel like we missed too much.

Another great ruin. This is one you can get into and see many of the same view the villagers saw. Amazing to see such feats of construction - square windows, round sights straight walls - all without the use of modern tools. Very easy walk.

Do not miss this one! We were lucky enough to meet up with a ranger guided tour. She was very knowledgeable and able to share much more than the basis trail guide did! These were amazing, hard working people. While we were there, they were doing some maintenance on the structures. It was a very quiet and respectful undertaking.

Another easy trail. More sites. Be sure to pick up literature at the trail head with numbered sites to give you the full overview.

Very easy trail next to the visitors center. Lots of puddles after a brief rain shower. Impressive until you see the other sites.

What a great trail. From the moment you climb the ladder you begin to feel how special this hike will be. It was fun to see so many beautiful pottery shards. Thanks to everyone for leaving them for future generations. The trail has some interesting "walking paths", possibly from years of natives heading to their pueblo. A few tight spots but a fun place to go. Very sunny with excellent views.

Shuttled to the top and hiked to the floor of the canyon (visitors center). The views from the top are great. In some places, the kivas, etc are visible. As you approach the bottom, you have an eagle eye view of all the village. The trail is relatively easy but in the sun most of the way. Don't get in a hurry. Slow down and enjoy hiking trails taken by the villagers on a regular basis.

Took this trail by accident but turned out to be a perfect morning hike. Lost count on the number of times we crossed the creek but it was never difficult to cross even after recent rains. Could have sworn we saw a mountain lion track but I'm no expert. Didn't worry too much since we were all adults and hiked close together. The top of the trail comes out in the sun making it seem really warm (65 in the mountains, lol). Hoping to get back to connect to the crest trail for a possible overnight hike. Lots of good places to set up camp.

Really great trail. Cut over to Argentina from the Crest Trail. Views at the top were beautiful even considering the burn scars. Recent rains have left the hills green and lush. The wild iris and indian paint brush were blooming. The creek was full and gurgling. We only met one other couple along the trail. Start early as it gets warm at the top. Carry your trail map to link up with other trails. Current maps available at the Ranger Station at Cedar Creek show closed trails.

Great workout on this short trail if you follow the staked dunes. My sister and I hiked early in the morning and it was already warming considerably. I stayed up on the dunes where the sand was loose and my sister stayed in the bottoms where the sand was more firm. Some of the trail markers were missing and it was "interesting" locating your way along the trail. It was such a nice easy trail it would be fun to take the kids along. It's also a great trail to pull off your shoes to finish the last half mile with your toes in the cool sand.

We arrived in Las Cruces after a torrential rain storm but decided the trail would be fine the next morning. It could not have been any more perfect! So many springs were running, the air was fresh, the temperature stayed very pleasant. We did the Pass trail (6 miles) from the campground on the White Sands side, up and over to the Las Cruces side. There is never any serious altitude gain making for a easy hike. We stopped many times for photos and took our time at water crossings. The trail was a bit overgrown but beautiful and green. Lizards were plentiful and only saw one snake. Can't wait to get back to hike it again!

We did this hike as a 2 day hike to make it easy on ourselves. This is NOT an easy trail. I had read up on the trail and was a bit concerned about how steep and narrow it was supposed to be. You really never know until you arrive. I thought it was steep but probably no worse than the South Kaibab. It was nice and cool at the top. We stopped for the night at Cottonwood and left early the next morning for Phantom Ranch. After Cottonwood the trail is not as flat as people said, but it is more rolling hills than climbs. The box was beautiful and people were enjoying themselves, taking pictures. The difference from the North side of the canyon to the South side is wild. Something you have to experience to appreciate.

We hiked this trail just as a reminder of days gone by. We grew up in the area and we always hiked and played and went inner tubing in these beautiful mountains. The trail was great. Super easy! Don't forget the Bridal Veil Falls Trail. It has some elevation change but nothing to worry about. It has some history to investigate.

This little gem has been overlooked by soooo many. It's a great easy hike to the top even for the "not so physically fit". I've lived in this state most of my life, and had never heard of this trail. The hoodoos are plenty and the views spectacular! Can't wait to go back and take the grandkids!
