not worth doing at the end of the summer. we did this labor day weekend and there was very little water left. probably better in may/June.
    flat. easy. child friendly.

I cannot recommend this hike enough. we started the the campground at 8AM and did not see another person until we were headed back.
this is a pretty easy trail ending at a Grove of Giant Sequioas. we had this entirely to ourselves. gives you time to really appreciate these amazing beasts without the insane crowds at Giant Forest. there are trees here that you can walk inside of and (at least) one tree that you can walk through. right at the begining of the Grove is a circle of Sequioas, a great place to rest with a snack.
if you are not staying at Dorst Creek campground, it is 100% worth it to drive/take the shuttle up there. (there is open parking in the campground). do this trail before the secret gets out.

Taylor Jaffe reviewed Vernal and Nevada Falls via the Mist Trail

we took the JMT up and the mist trail back down. for us, this was the best option. the JMT is longer, but less steep. however, the mist trail is mostly stairs, so if you have bad knees the other way around may be better for you.
when I hiked this labor day weekend, the water at the top was very calm and people were swimming around. the top of this trail was the highlight of my trip.

absolutely amazing view at the end. the trek up to the Yosemite falls outlook is grueling!! feeling like never ending, very steep switchbacks. however, once you take a break at the outlook, the rest of the way up to eagles peak is easy. we had a trail basically to ourselves, only passing 3 other groups. had the peak completely to ourselves.
we are very slow hikers and this took us 6 hours to get up and 4 hours to get back down.

trail mostly well marked. a little hard to find the blazes towards the beginning. the falls were awesome since it's rained so much lately. kinda muddy, but again, it's been raining a lot lately.
