This hike was awesome! We were able to run most of the way down. It’s so beautiful! I’ve had it on my list for almost three years and it was worth the wait. Parking sucks, you’ll probably have to park on the road. Trail is super easy to follow.

Went tonight and it was nice and cool. Didn’t see any snakes since we were later. The trail is super difficult to find so read the tips. I actually didn’t make it to the waterfall because I didn’t see the “keep mostly right after the little log bridge” tip. Going to head back in a couple weeks to find it. Beautiful, nice hike either way. Hiked up, ran down.

Planned to just hike but the trail was so perfect to run it. Not a lot of elevation change but absolutely gorgeous scenery. A few river crossings. Awesome natural bridge at the end. A couple small rock scrambles.

We did this as a one night backpacking trip, but could definitely be explored in a day hike or longer trip if you wanted. In November we only saw two other people the entire time we were out there. It's not marked very well, so be prepared with maps, compasses, etc. If you don't have a 4-wheel drive vehicle you will have to park farther out.

This is a quick easy hike. It was the busiest trailhead we saw in the park.

Trails were great, we went for a walk. But I'd love to mountain bike here. Perfect trails for Mtn biking.

Very crowded and hot, but definitely worth the quick hike/walk to see these beautiful views. We went around 9AM during Labor Day weekend. Wear decent shoes for hot sand.

LOVED this trail. This is a perfect day hike to see Bryce without the crowds that Navajo loop and Queens Garden has. Arrive early if peak season, the parking lot is small and a lot of people come for one of the overlook/viewpoints. Please pack lots of water!!! I saw way too many tourists out there without enough water. Plan for lots of ups and downs. There are a few thigh burner sections. But all in all just a moderate hike, not too strenuous. Take your time. Enjoy!

When you approach the trail you will see a bunch of "no trespassing" signs. If you keep going you will find the parking lot up ahead. I believe the no trespassing signs are for private property on the sides. This area was not busy at all which is refreshing; however, the trail was very steep! I need to come back earlier or on a cooler day with expectations of a short, steep hike. Maybe my rating will get updated.

So worth it. This hike can be hard if you're not use to change in elevation, tons of humidity, climbing, heat, etc. But it's short and if you take it easy I'm pretty confident most can accomplish and enjoy the beautiful waterfall! It gets busy. Swimming in the waterfall is awesome!

This is a popular excursion offered by most kayaking companies nearby. You can also choose to rent your own and self guide if you're visiting. The kayak portion can be a little exhausting. Many many thought it would be easier than it was and then really struggled. The hike is very easy and the falls isn't that big of a secret... you'll see lots of people there. Nevertheless, a beautiful place to enjoy the day.

This trail was a muddy mess when we came. It was foggy for most of it and so we only got to see beautiful views for a moment. I've heard this trail can be one of the best in Kauai, but from what I experienced I wasn't too impressed. It was okay and I'd still be open to trying it again though.

Tawnee Weston reviewed Hanakapi'ai Falls Trail

If you decide to hike to the beach, you might as well add on the extra mileage and go to this waterfall as well. You have to cross the river multiple times plus the first half of the trail can be dangerously slippery. If it's raining or has any chance of rain, I'd skip this. But if it's a beautiful day, this is one of the best ways to spend a morning in Kauai. Parking can be crazy. Arrive early. There's showers near the bottom where you can wash all the mud off before jumping in your car.

This is gorgeous hike, but I think a lot of people go out there without proper attire. If it rains, it's going to be incredibly slippery. When we went, there were a lot of us grabbing walking sticks to try and help us grab some traction. It was really difficult to progress up some of the slippery slopes. However, many people told us that the trail is much easier on sunny, clear days. But this is the Napali Coast. It likes to rain. All in all, absolutely beautiful hike though. Best views ever.

Gorgeous drive. It's well worth your time to drive through all the giants regardless of how much time you spend camping and hiking around. Truly impressive.
