A pretty straightforward hike, but gorgeous views throughout the trek. Packed snow from 9500 ft up, nothing scary but I was glad I had my spikes on the icy downhill bits. Saw tons of mule deer in the meadow near the trailhead, which seems fitting. Made for a refreshing morning summit.

Great hike! Extra challenging to get up the last scramble with the snow and ice, but that much more rewarding when it was done! I enjoyed the waterfalls and river crossings on the way up, and once you get above the treeline the views are remarkable. My only caution if you go soon is to watch for falling ice around the cliffs just past Peacock Pool...I nearly got creamed by a softball sized solid ball of ice! Otherwise some minor slippage, but poles were good enough to get past it. No problem with parking either, on a wintery weekday. Even when I left at 3ish, there were still a lot of open spots. Overall awesome!

What an awesome hike! A good snowfall the day before made the last bit particularly interesting...navigating a boulder field under two feet of snow is something! Be ready with poles to poke your way along, and spikes would be helpful for the climb up the falls. Getting there was a gorgeous trip though, especially around The Loch.
Also worth noting is that the park and ride shuttle is off for the season, so go early if you want parking at the glacier gorge trailhead. It's .4 miles longer if you start from Bear Lake.

I loved the first half of this trek...took the Gregory Canyon trail to Ranger, nice steady climb but not too painful, and great views. Coming down the other side was hell on the knees and a lot of scrambling; next time I'll be going back down the way I came! Beautiful hike though, and not super busy in the early morning.

My knees would definitely rate this as a moderately-easy hike! Some steep elevation changes but really nice views. As a newcomer to the region, I also found the weather guides near the trailhead to be interesting and informative. Saw a handful of deer, chipmunks, and a rattlesnake!
